This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. An April 26, 1946, photo in Arizona’s The Coolidge Examiner shows hopeful Congressional Medal of Honor winner Clyde Choate campaigning in a VEC CJ-2A during his 1946 Illinois State Assembly campaign. He would win this election and go on to serve another thirty years in pubic office.

“rebuilt this jeep last winter, don’t drive it as much as i thought i would. rebuilt engine, transmisson, front and rear end. steering box, rewired and converted to 12v. frame painted. body painted with bed liner inside and underneath. original body tailgate and windshield so they are not perfect like the reproduction body would be. has transferable pa antique plate. asking 9000 as that is about what i have into it in parts.”

“Project vehicle, does not run. Body original and reasonably straight. Has some rust, nothing horrible, basically sound. Frame in excellent condition. Trans shifts, clutch operates, transfer case appears to be functional.
Has a Kaiser Supersonic L134 engine (not original, but very similar to original) installed. The installed engine does not turn over. Frozen. It is, however, complete. Carb, oil bath air cleaner, etc. Jeep comes with an original Willys Go Devil L 134 engine from a 48 Jeepster. That engine DOES turn over, though I have not attempted to start it. Was told by the person who pulled it from the Jeepster that it was a good running motor.
Photos show it without the windshield, but I do have the part. Glass is cracked. I have several additional parts: Complete new gasket set for L134 engine, rebuild kit for the Carter carb, set of 12v windshield wipers, set of 4 original rims in reasonable condition (plus the spare, shown). Clean MO title, in my name.”
UPDATE: Still Available. Pics show this with two different type of tires, so I”m not sure which are on it currently. Has a rear PTO.

“This old Jeep has been sitting in my garage for many years. I don’t know if it will run, but it has minimal rust and the tires will hold air. It is In practically the same shape as it was when my late husband purchased it about 35 years ago. It could be restored. It has never been wrecked or in an accident since my late husband acquired it. Since it is 1948 model it is BOS only.”
