Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1948 Willys Jeep CJ2 with rare military aluminum top with upgraded engine. Engine is a 1950 170 (2.8L) I6 @85hp Studebaker engine number #778167. New tires, and recent military paint job. This rig is ready for the outdoors in any season. The Arctic Top was made by Willys for the M38 military jeeps in 1950 and is considered the best top ever made for that era jeep. Floor pans and rust areas repaired. Tires are Hillner Directional mud and snow 6.50 x16LT 6ply on original rims. Front seat belts and ball hitch have been added, however the rest is stock 1948 Willys CJ2. Recent repairs include brake hydraulic system, motor mount, charging system, carburetor rebuild, fuel pump and battery cables.
This is offered as fund raiser for Western Antique Air and Auto Museum. It may be insprcted and tested at 1600 Air Museum Rd in Hood River, Or. Asking 7200, or test and make offer.”

“Motor ran when parked in shed. Body needs repair from firewall back. All there with hard to find air cleaner. Motor rolls over, not seized. Frame good. Has a half cab without doors. Clean green title.
Also have a complete running gear without radiator, motor seized. Has very straight frame with factory bumpers. No body. Has frt. Fenders and hood. Will sell separately Or as package deal”
Hasn’t run since 1997. This might have a Porter & Reed hardtop.

I’m not sure what’s all here. It’s listed as a ’46, but looks to be an M-38A1 body. A cab enclosure hardtop in included.

“OR SALE 1948 WILLYS Solid starting point for a PROJECT. 283 with LT-1 intake, advance adapter headers, advance adapter side pipes, 2 piece scatter shield, Muncie 4 speed, warn overdrive, Dana transfer case, custom built front and rear drive shafts, Dana front with a DANA 60 rear (yes that is a 1 ton rear end) end both sporting 5:38 gears. Locking hubs on the front. GM steering box and column, Hurst linkage, 2 10 gallon fuel tanks. Sand roll bar with a full cage. Same owner since around 1979. I wanted to rebuild it to it’s former glory but just don’t see it happening.”
Runs, but not road worthy. Has Suzuki Samurai axles.

Listed as as 1946 Cj-2A, it looks more like a CJ-3A. If the top only has surface rust, then there could be value here.
