Body is in “great condition”?

“Rare find willys jeep cj2a flat fender WWII style civilian jeep. Body is in great condition for its age. The stories it could tell. Had a motor swap done at some point in its life and was upgraded to the higher output f4 hurricane 4 cylinder. I installed 2″ lift shackles and 33/10/15 super swamper tires. Also has roll bar and some extra lights. Right now it is not starting and needs fuel tank, battery, cap and rotor. Was running and driving just couple years ago. I’ve owned it since 2008 and hate to let it go. Need the cash for bills and car repairs”

1947 CJ-2A Madison, VA $23,500

I get no joy in pointing out problematic ad, but this one made me shake my head more than usual. This low mileage jeep already has a gas stain running down the side. Phrases like “Fully military spec’d” and “Very authentic” make it all the worse. Finally, it’s listed as a 1945 (to the sellers credit, it is labeled an Army Jeep Tribute), when the serial number (which the builder used as the hood number also) clearly indicates it is a 1947.

“Fully and professionally restored Jeep in excellent condition! Only driven 520 miles since completed and completely turn-key. Fully military spec’d with rear seat, jerry can, Army spec paint, military tread tires, tools and more. Fold down windshield, canvass upholstery (no top), 4×4. Rebuilt engine, runs, drives, steers and stops very well with no issues of any kind. This is a super fun vehicle that is great for display, parades, shows or Jeep events. Very authentic, southern Jeep that needs nothing but a new owner. Comes with service manual and large roll of canvass material. All reasonable offers will be considered but no trades please. Come take a look and let’s deal!”
