Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Craig spotted this one. There’s some jeep underneath. If it is really a ’53, it must be a CJ-3A or 3B. An M-38A1 would have the front springs reversed.

“Rare year, M38 clone, jeep is in nice shape for the year. This is a project that should be an easy fix for someone willing to take the time. Started frame off restoration, frame was painted, no rust and bumpers have also been straightened. T90 transmission will bolt up to a V8. I will include the two motors i have with it (134 Hurricane and Flathead 4 go’ devil) and a lot of extra parts. The jeep needs to be wired for 12 v. I have all the motor parts from when it was 6 v included. Jeep tub is in really nice shape and sheet metal is straight. This jeep is titled in WI in my name. Serious offers will be considered. “Selling my old Willy’s Jeep. It’s an old military jeep. We have done some motor and trans work to it. It has 33″ BFG tires. Currently no motor in it but I have a 350 Chevy motor to replace the one that was taken out. It is fun and very fast with that big 350. “I bought this 1951 Jeep Willys with the intention of restoring it, it has a (locked up) buick v6 in it now. I pulled off the front sheet metal and bought a 2002 tahoe 4.8 liter to go in it. I have a bill of sale from the auction. It’s all there except gas tank. All these parts are easy to get new on ebay. I’m pricing it cheap to sell, we are selling our house and need to get it out. 1150.00 obo”

“Well life has pitched me a curve ball and I need to sell my jeep. It is a 1952 CJ3a. It has been rebuilt from the ground up. The frame was sand blasted and hot dip galvanized. The engine, tranny, transfer, and both axles were rebuilt. The Carb was rebuilt by R. Pacholski (jeep carb wizard). It has a repro tub on it and is in excellent mechanical shape. Last summer it past a Maine State Inspection, which means it can drive over the road without any restrictions. The only thing it needs is paint. I had not painted it yet because I wanted to put some miles on it before paint in case I had to do more mechanical work. I am looking to get $7000.00. I have close to 12K into it.’
