Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It’s got a variety of mods.
“1949 customized Jeep Willy’s. Has a cj5 motor in it, actual miles unknown but most of the stuff on this Jeep has been replaced or rebuilt. This Jeep has thousands of dollars in custom work and parts. New heavy duty steering and power steering added also. It’s a really cool Jeep.”
More work to be done, but there could be value here.
“1950 Willys cj3a Jeep. This is a 95% complete jeep with original flat head 4cyl. “Go devil” engine. It is not running needs valves replaced but cylinders look good. I have a box of parts for it as well ( including the original seat brackets that allow passenger seat to fold fwd.) comes with a new tow bar. Tires will hold air for a day or so. I do have Colo. Title for it. Not interested in parting out as it only needs a few things to be complete. Asking $ 2200/obo.”

It’s a project.
“I bought this Jeep around 2012 from a person in Ivins who had it sitting in his yard for 25 years. He replaced the engine with a known good running engine when he first got it. He turned the engine by hand a couple of times a year to keep it free.
I put a lot of work into it around 2012/2013
I lost interest, and it has literally sat outside here in Ivins since 2013. It’s still in similar shape, but I’m sure there’s a bit more rust.
For the most part it’s pretty clean. I scrubbed, and painted the engine, transfer case, and tranny. I got most of the crud off the frame and other parts too, so it’s ready for mainly mechanical/body work at this point.
(I have an album of about 200 pictures from 2013 when I did the work. It won’t allow me to post it here, email me for the link. It shows a lot of detail of what has been done.)

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
Listed as a 1945 GPW, I don’t see anything that early on it. Maybe the frame still is? Has some practical, offroad updates. If it is a GPW frame, look for twists caused by the V8.

Toyota Land Cruiser axles full float rear 4:56 gears Detroit lockers front and rear long field 30 spline inners. 37 inch tires. Alcan springs bilstein shocks. Wheelbase is 104. Body stretched behind door and front clip extended. Only thing original is windshield frame and grill.”

Looks in good shape. It might be the photo lighting, but the area around the driver side drain hole doesn’t appear smooth.
“1950 CJ-3A in great condition. All original jeep minus the Buick V-6 and 12-V electrical system. The Buick 198 engine has been recently tuned and runs great. Fun to cruise around in. 3 speed T-90 and Spicer transfer case. 5.38:1 original gearing. New clutch, new brake master cylinder, new tires, Superwinch locking front hubs, newer black Bestop soft top. Same owners since early 70’s.”
