(09/30/2012) The seller sugests this is a M-38. I’ve sent the seller a note about this.
” This is a 1951 Model U.S. Army jeep in excellent condition. I do not know if the mileage is original. This is one the last of the flat fender jeeps. Introduced in 1950 at the beginning of the Korean war. Only 45,173 were made. Production ended in Sept of 1952. NO RUST! Has NDCC military tires, Has the Willys L4-134 “Go Devil” 60 HP engine which was the original for this Jeep. 6 Volt battery. Installed front seat belts. The drive train is in excellent operating condition. Drive it anywhere at 40 or 45 MPH. It can be flat towed. No trailer needed. The windshield wiper on the drivers side has a motor that operates the wiper. Had to install that because the State Safety Inspector mandated it. The passenger side wiper is original manual wiper. Successful bidder will need to arrange for shipping, or pickup vehicle. Location is near Ogden, UT. Sold as-is, where-is.”

(10/05/2012) This hasn’t been driven since 1985. However, it has been garaged since then. The body is supposed to be solid. This may be worth a look.
“Classic Willys CJ-3A. This jeep has been in my family since the 1960’s. It was hauled from California to Idaho in the late 1990’s where it has been garaged until I recently brought it down to Clearfield to sell it. It has never seen a Utah "salty-road" winter, so the body and frame do not have the rust that you see on typical Utah Jeeps that are 30-40 years newer (body, floor, and frame are solid). I put in a running 289 engine (V8 out of a Rancho) with 302 heads (bored and ported) in it back in 1988 along with a new clutch and throwout bearing, but I remain time-challenged, so it remains unrestored. The mileage noted is actual for the entire jeep (with the exception of the engine). The last time this jeep was driven was 1985. The last time I started the engine was 1989.In addition to the upgraded engine, it comes with a roll bar, custom bumpers (front & back) with a tow hitch on the front, and (2) five gallon Jerry Cans. I will also throw in the full roll cage (custom bent for this jeep with heavy piping, but not assembled) along with a set of 4 tires and rims from a 1968 CJ5 (tires still have good tread). It has been a dream of mine since the mid-80’s to restore this jeep, but alas, we purchased running CJ5 for my son to use, thus we are looking for a good home for the 3-A where it can be restored to its former glory. I am asking $1,500 O.B.O. with the extra set of tires and rims or $1,200 without.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $750.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3200.
This is an ex-United Airlines jeep with a brass plaque still attached. It might be an interesting restoration if some early pictures can be found.
“This is a 1951 Willys Jeep with a 1946 windshield. The jeep was used by United Airlines to pull luggage carts and still has a brass plate on the dash with United Airlines and the vehicle number on it. Because of it’s use it only shows 6,823 miles on the odometer. I have no way of knowing if this is actual miles but have no reason for believing that it is not. When I put new tires on the Jeep last year the old tires looked new as far as wear but were dry rotted. The jeep was painted 3 years ago after any rusty areas were repaired with fiberglass resin and fiberglass matt. The repairs were not fixed with bondo. The vehicle is for fun and not for show. I have grandsons from age 4 to age 25 and some of them learned to drive a straight shift in this jeep. The paint job is not perfect by a long shot. The jeep is near perfect mechanically including transmission, rear end, transfer case, 4 wheel drive, steering, and brakes. Brakes were rebuilt this year. Motor cranks every time, does not smoke, and has always been dependable. Jeep has an antique tag and is road worthy. If you are looking for a Jeep that is mechanically sound, dependable and a lot of fun this may be it. Is mostly original except it is painted and has decals as a military jeep but it was not. The seats are mustang seats covered by me.”

(07/25/2012) This looks solid. The hood scoop is unusual. This might restore relatively easily . I wonder if it really was an Air Force Jeep.
