Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This runs. It might be good price. Maybe its my eyes, but there are a few details that suggest this needs a closer look (the mbish tow bar, the lack of holes for the front parking lights, and the gas inlet seems a little small), but maybe I’m just sleepy.

(07/16/2010) Pretty unusual. Something unusual has been done with the grille as well. The tines appear to shape outwords.

“I have to sell my beloved cj3a. It is in amazing shape for as old as it is. Gets TONS of attention and is tottally streetable.
1951 Cj3a; chevy 4.3 tbi engine; Frame boxed in for strength; Dana 44 front and rear axles with 5.38 gears, rear spool front detroit locker, rear axle converted to disc brake. Muncie 4 speed tranny with granny low 1st, mated to a dana 18 t case. t- case is built with dana 20 internals for stronger intermediate shaft. It also has a advanved adapters over drive so it cuts each gear in half, essentially giving you 16 forward and 4 reverse gears.
Body is in excellent shape with no cancer or rust. Full roll cage, newer 36in super swampers. Suspension is spring over axle, using wrangler springs. front shackle reversal. it flexes AMAZING with tons of droop. This truck runs awesome. I need the money, and have too many vehicles. i dont have time to wheel it anymore. It drives around town fine and does about 70 on the highway no problem. I hate to see it go. (12/29/2010) There might be some value here. It looks like it has a MB or GPW body along with a Bobcat fiberglass hood. It almost looks like an old racer.
“For sale is my very good running 1953 Jeep CJ3A. The jeep starts, runs, shifts and drives well. It has a early 1970’s Buick V-6 engine installed. Saginaw power steering box installed. 1953 was the last year of the CJ3A before they went to the high hood model. The 4 wheel drive works but the hubs are sticking and need to be taken off and cleaned. The Jeep has some rust here and there but nothing that can not be fixed. It has an aftermarket fiberglass hood that needs a couple hours of glass work for two very minor cracks. Has a hydraulic brake lock device installed for stopping on steep grades. Needs headlights installed. Very nice roll bar. Clean title in hand. Feel free to come take it for a test drive. FREE DELIVERY WITHIN 30 MILES (Except to the islands or Canada). PLEASE – SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. I do not have the spare time to waste on flakes and jokers. $750 OBO”

(04/13/2009) This reminds me of the very first jeep my parents purchased for me when I graduated high school, except it’s in nicer condition (not that the condition of this looks all that nice). The color and the cage was similar.
