This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This looks in good shape.
“1949 Willys Jeep in great condition. Only a small bit of rust on the undercarriage. Otherwise the Jeep is in outstanding condition. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and always starts easy and runs strong. The roll bar and front and rear bumpers are custom made with a detachable tow bar and receiver adapters for winch or other uses. All tires are new. The transmission and transfer case both work well and appear to be original. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts and has a GM alternator. All lights work and backup lights have been installed for general use or field dressing game animals. The brakes work well, but the master cylinder leaks. It has not been registered since 1999, but can easily be registered as an antique. I have not owned this Jeep very long and really don’t need it, however I have enjoyed driving it and it’s more fun than an ATV.”

This sounds like another one of th0se “I parked it in the woods years ago and left it there because…” stories.

I’m pretty sure this is a fiberglass body. ACME continues to sell fiberglass, metal and aluminum flattie bodies, as noted below.
“This was a project that never got finished. It has a Buick 231/ turbo 350/ Spicer18/ dana44 with 5/38 gearing/ Summer brothers axils/ aluminum wheels. The body (tub, front fenders, and grill) is an acme with minimum rust. Also comes with a two piece windshield and extra grill (small headlight), windshield wipers, extra u-joints and back seat Asking 2000.00 or best offer.”

ACME also sells metal bodies (steel (Early MB, MB, GPW, M-38, CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B and even a mini slat grille) & aluminum), though none I see come without tailgates except for the MB bodies, but those have the normal mb characteristics.

(03/28/2010) There’s been a number of updates on this flattie.
“327 Rebuilt Engine with approximately 700 miles. 4 speed, 8000 lb wench, 35 x 12.5 tires, 4 barrell Edelbrock carburetor, headears, tow bar, 6 point roll bar, 5 point harness seats. Runs Great!!! If you have any questions, or would like to schedule an appointment to see, please call”
This has a rear PTO, but looks pretty beat up.

Lots of work done here. It needs a fuel pump at the very least.
“1949 Jeep CJ3B 305 TPI TH400 Ford 9″ Rear with Detroit Locker, Dana 44 Front, 4.56 Gears, Disc Brakes up front, power steering, power brakes, vehicle is stretched on a CJ5 frame, vehicle is a project and needs some work, currently needs a fuel pump to get running. I currently have the fenders off. Currently registered non-op, registration is current.”

(05/05/09) The body looks a little rough, but it runs. It looks like a good price.
“1950 CJ3A, about 62K original miles, factory drivetrain, 4 cylinder flat-head, newer solex carburetor, rebuilt transmission and transfer case, new brakes, new tires, hasn’t left town for 30 years. Runs excellent, needs top.”
