Replaced the origanal axle with a pair from a 1968 jeep, Dana 44 rear and a Dana 27 front. Installed front mounted steering plate for power or manual, replace tie rods and tube with 1 piece (1972 jeep style steering). ”

It’s nice, but needs a tiny bit of work.  I have a pic of this when it was red and for sale in colorado.

“1951 Willys CJ3A powered by 1979 Buick 3.8L V6. Original 3-speed manual trans with 2-speed transfer case and overdrive. Saginaw steering conversion with GM tilt wheel. 11″ front brakes, Superwinch free wheeling hubs, Superlift springs and shocks – 2″ or less lift. Nice ride. New aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, CJ high back buckets, custom spare tire carrier, heater, 31×10.50 BFG mud terrain tires, 8″ or 10″ wide aluminum rims, original front and rear axle housings. Unsure of gear ratio. New single exhaust, tow hitch with 2” receiver. Bikini top only. This vehicle came from Colorado 6 months ago. Body is in very good condition. Has a small amount of rust under passenger side. Items needed – new or rebuilt carb, trans needs 2nd gear synchro, brakes need to be checked, needs emergency brake cable. A little bit of work will make this a really nice vehicle.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2900.

The fix for the engine can’t be that complex.

“Red, low mileage, original drive train, engine, PTO, towbar, near new top, good body, 12 volt conversion. “As is” This jeep ran purrfectly until one day I had the hood up while it was running and was bragging to my neighbor how smooth it ran. I then closed the hood, it stopped running and I couldn’t get it started after that. I’m not a mechanic and haven’t a clue what it might be. I think this car would be have a NADA value of approximately $10,000.00 if it were running today. Please look at the pictures below and call me with any questions.”

The underside of the body looks pretty good. It has had a few patches, as if the body used to have powersteering (hole in the grille) and a F-head motor (hole in the hood).

“I’m listing this for a friend.  It has a 225 V6, T-90, T18 Transfer case, larger brake kit. Bodys fair-, but is workable. Comes with a spare hood and grille for repairing. Runs and drives, goes thru the gears ok and brakes work. Frame is good with no weird plates welded on or holes drilled. Needs glass, windshield in good shape. windshield vent works, needs bracket to hold open. For a do it yourself, it could turn out real clean without putting alot of cash in it.”

This is a nice build.  This would be worth checking out more closely.  Note the upside handbrake; an unusual way to install the e-brake.

UPDATE:  Back on eBay

(04/07/2010) These look rough.

“I bought these Jeeps to restore however, lack of money, and other things to worry about, has forced me to sell them. The exact year of these Jeeps are unknown THEY ARE BOTH ORIGINAL FLATFENDERS.  the YELLOW Jeeps motor is locked. haven’t done anything to see otherwise, it has an valve cover ( 4cyl ) know as the F-head (has valve cover ). the body of this jeep is gone. however axles, ect. are probably still useable. This would be a good parts vehicle for someone with this type of jeep already. The Red Jeep is a L-head (flathead) condition of motor unknown, I believe this engine is know as a ” Go Devil” engine. “JEEP” AND “WILLYS” ( in the pics)  are stamped on top of the motor.  transmission shifts and transfercase as well drum brake on the trasmission. Body is in fair and repairable condion considering the age of this vehicle.BOTH frames on these vehicles are SOLID. Yellow jeep has a towbar and can be towed, as it was to my house. The red jeep will need trailering. I believe both these vehicles together are worth well over $800.00 for parts or restoration.”

2 flatties Van Cleave, LA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, CJ-3A, M-38 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.

(05/05/2008) My favorite line in this is that the seller has checked ebay and therefore knows that these aren’t just old jeeps, but doesn’t know enough to know what models they are.  So, the seller claims to know what they’ve got while at the same time claiming that they don’t really know what they’ve got. Ouch!

“I have two Jeeps, either M38s or CJ2s (sorry, I’m not a Jeep expert). I do know they are the original 1940s models and one had a PTO. I’ve had one person say they are M38s and another say they are early civilian CJ2s, but ??? Either way, they are hard-to-find. One is complete incl. engine, the other is minus the engine, but the rest of the drivetrain appears complete. Both need a fair amount of work if the buyer wants to restore them to original, but you could probably get a running jeep in a full weekend of work, maybe less. There is enough here to get one complete, running jeep and have a fair boneyard left over. One body is poor to fair, one is fair.  I’ve checked eBay, etc., and know that these are not just “old jeeps,” so please, no low-ball offers. I’m asking $2500.00 for everything.”
