Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Looks like a very nice CJ-3A with some quality customizations.
“Fully restored from “frame-up” 1951 Willys that is ready for Glamis, trail riding, or the street. Chevy 350 stroked to a 383 that dyno’s at 475 horsepower. Uses 91 pump gas. Comes with street tires and rear sand tires. The Jeep was built by Mike Record in 2000 and the motor was rebuilt (less than 25 hours on it) by Chris Patton.”
A reader wanted to share a pic of this beautiful all Jewels Flatfender he built over many years and recently sold. He says he already is at work on another jeep. Hopefully, he’ll provide us with some updates as works on his new project.

I include this jeep as it’s a rare example, in my opinion, of a DJ-3A with a tailgate. I’ve heard these existed, but hadn’t had picture proof until I saw this one. The thing that clued me in was the large speedometer. Once I saw that, I went back and read the description.
“For Sale is my 1955-1964 DJ3A/CJ2A/CJ3A combo Jeep that I use on my Farm for general weekly transportation over the last several years. Jeep is stored inside my barn at all times on my farm. If you are looking for a show vehicle with matching numbers this is not the ride for you. However, if you are looking for a good solid original Willys flat fender Jeep driver for general use, read on. All body parts except the tool box are original Willys manufacture. Body tub, fenders, hood, tailgate, and front grill are original DJ3A that have had a paint job using Mil Standard Sherwin Williams OD CARC paint. Body tub is solid as the DJ3A had a full hard top which protected it from the normal weather related rust experienced by most soft top Willys vehicles…..”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1000.
It appears to have a number of modifications, including a suspension change and a tilte steering wheel. It may not much more than a parts jeep at this point.

Update: **SOLD** Was $2800.
This looks to be a good price. The tires look good and the body looks straight from the picture angle. Given the seller didn’t include the keyword “willys” this may be a difficult one for most people to find, which might mean the price will drop some more from lack of calls.

What jeep isn’t complete without a CD player. Some interesting custom doors.
“231 Buick V6 electronic ignition. 33×12.50×15 tires on 10×15 rockcrawler wheels w/2.5″bs. Soft top from later jeep(doors need to be retrofitted). Steel half doors. CD player.”
I’m not sure if this is a PNW legal racer or not. It may just be a sand/mud buggy. I can’t tell for sure, but I suspect the body is fiberglass, probably a bobcat body, as the rim around the back looks wider than a standard body. I am wondering why they dont’ have a front bumper on the thing. There about $800 is tires alone, if in decent shape.
