Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Bought this Jeep with the intent of working on it and restoring it. I’ve had it almost a year and haven’t touched it and it’s taking up space. The transmission makes some noise in first, but reverse, second, and third are all good. The V8 under the hood runs strong and has a lot of pick up to it. Headlights and taillights work. I also have the complete hard top for it along with doors. Hardtop and doors are in great condition with only a little surface rust. As for the tub, it has some holes in the floors and could use some work. Tires and rims are in good condition. Front bumper is beefed up and could easily hold a plow. Seats have minor tears in them, nothing major. Windshield would need to be replaced if the goal is to drive this on the street, has some pretty big cracks on the passenger side.”

Here is a pretty good shape, straight body jeep. It has a 4 cylinder engine that runs, 3 speed transmission and model 18 transfer case. the huge winch on the front is a PTO style. It has a back seat, nice tail gate, roll bar, and a very rare dual fuel tank set up under the front seats. How many of those have you seen? This has clean title and is registered until January of 2017.”

Maury ran across this rare CJ-5 and figured few people knew about it (I’ve never written anything about it). Kaiser Jeep of Australia built what they called Jeep Combat 6, a CJ-5 derivative. They had Ford 170ci straight 6 motors, the same engine used in the early Mustangs. It was the Australian answer to the Dauntless V6 being installed Stateside.
About 460 Jeep Combat 6 vehicles were made. Of the 460, it is unknown how many were CJ5’s or CJ6’s, as all documented records were either lost or destroyed. The chassis and the tubs were imported from Kaiser’s US plant and assembled with the Ford engines in Brisbane. Here’s photos of 1968 Combat 6 that was for sale about a year ago in Australia:

According to the 3B page, the Combat 6 marketing didn’t last for long. The Australian arm of Kaiser Jeep dropped the Combat 6 brand, possibly replacing it with the Sportster. As you can see in this ad that was for sale on Australia’s eBay, the Sportster CJ-5 had the inline 6. If anyone has more info, please let me know. I couldn’t find much on these.

“I’m selling my 1955 Willys. I am the third owner, I bought the Jeep from a relative of the original owner. It runs and drives well, although it is made for the trail, not the highway. Car is in good condition except for a few spots of minor rust and some dings and dents, which are expected for a 60 year old car. Car is a 3-speed manual with a modest 4cyl motor. Car has a soft top with doors and also a roll bar. Only reason I’m selling it is because I have too many cars now and I’ve ran out of space on my driveway.”

“Looking to sell my project jeep. Was rescued from abandonment and have been going thru the process of titling it. I haven’t run into any troubles.
I need to pay bills and not build projects right now.
Has running dauntless engine v6 . Possible negotiable price if I keep the motor. The wife will kill me but gas golf cart and on road motorcycle trades possible ☺
It rolls and when the gas tank is bypassed it starts right up (does not include battery) but it is a project and I want everyone to realize I understand it is not a show car. It’s a thousand dollars and would make a great toy for someone. I have no patience for a lot of haggling bs. So please leave it at home. Cash talks better.
