(06/24/2014) The flattie runs, but the CJ-5 does not.

 have two Jeep Willy’s
No titles for either one.
One is missing part of the body but runs and drives (1951 M38).
Second Willy (1955 CJ-5) did run when parked about 10 years ago. Engine is free not frozen and has full body.
I was going to restore both but no longer have the time and wish to sell them.
I am told that the running Willy is a 1951 M38. The engine has been rebuilt runs good. Brakes all restored and is drivable.
Asking $3500 for both.

This is another CJ-5/CJ-3A combined body.

“1949 Willy Jeep CJ3A body mounted on a 1955 CJ5 frame. It has a 225-V6 with a 3spd Transmission. The front axle is a Dana 27 and the rear axle is a Dana 44. The frame is perfect and the body is good. This is a project vehicle and currently does not run or drive. It’s been in dry storage since 1980. All of the major parts are there to complete. If your looking for a Jeep project this is a great opportunity. ”

1958 Kaiser / Land Rover Merger Discussions

• CATEGORIES: CJ5, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Frazier came across a fascinating post on the Land Rover Series One Club forum. Apparently, there were discussions between Land Rover and Kaiser Willys about working together or a merger. According to this book about the British Motor Industry, the talks occurred in 1958. After exchanging information and design ideas, it appears Kaiser backed out of the deal. However it happened, Land Rover engineers apparently built a hybrid CJ-5 Land Rover. All the photos can be seen at the Rover forum. You’ll need to sign up with the forum to see all the photos.

According to one of the photo’s captions, Using the transmission and chassis from an 88 inch model (shortened to 83 inches) this hybrid LR/Jeep prototype was created by Land Rover as potential partnership discussions between the two companies were held. Ultimately no association was formed but an interesting prototype all the same.

1970 CJ-5 Johnson City, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5800.

The pics show hubcaps on one side, but not the passenger side. Looks nice otherwise.

“This is a fairly rare, uncut, unmodified, CJ5. 1970 was one of the last years for the “old style” short nose CJ5 before AMC lengthened it so they could put their 232 straight 6 in it.

This one has the old 134 cubic inch Willy’s Hurricane four cylinder engine in it and it runs great. It sounds good, pulls good, does not smoke, starts very well. It has a newer top and side doors, new tires within a couple of thousand miles ago and is a lot of fun on a hot day running around town with the windshield down.

Bear in mind this is not the newer style Jeep and it is not a highway runner. It has a top speed of between 50 and 55. Off road it is a lot of fun. It was painted by a previous owner and is presentable, it has solid floors and the body is very rust free.

All Fluids have been changed and it has a new starter. I bought a new tow bar for it but never installed it, this will go with the Jeep if you want it.”
