I was on my way to Jalopy Jungle (got some new springs — but that write-up must wait) in Nampa when I passed by this CJ-5 sitting outside an auto salvage shop in Meridian. As soon as I saw it, I made a quick u-turn and snapped some pics. The CJ-5 itself appears in stock condition with a solid body and no engine. There was no for sale sign and am not sure what it being done to it.
The rear seat itself it something I’ve never seen. The tail gate still works and there is storage area under the back seat.
This has an unusual story. This was damaged in 1962 and never run again. It has 1,231 original miles.
“For Sale: 1961 willys CJ5. Has 1,231 original miles. It was hit in the rear in 1962 and never used again. The previous owner removed the damaged rear quarter, wheel well, back floor pan and tail gate and purchased OEM body parts, but never reassembled it. The Jeep has been stored inside since 1962. I have what appears to be the entire vehicle awaiting reassembly. The transmission and transfer case were opened by the original owner and are missing some parts along with having rust inside.
Although it has been hit and needs to be reassembled, it has no heavy rust or rust-through, only surface rust. The engine and axels are in tact and the chassis rolls.

“1960 Willys Jeep CJ5 18,025 miles from new, very original unmolested. I am the second owner. The original upholstery is nice under the seat covers. Original spare tire still mounted on back. Comes with fiber glass top and 7″ Western plow. The original engine has been rebuilt by North Star Willys. It has a new exhaust, brakes, clutch, battery, belts and hoses. I have all receipts. This Jeep is completely bone stock, drive it home”
Here’s a fine looking CJ-5.
“1956 CJ5 set up with 350 v-8 chevrolet engine steel crank camel hump heads 4 bbl carb runs awesome less than 6,500 miles on it turbo 400 automatic transmision 2yrs old. newer front bucket seats custom rear seat. Has enough room for the family. Sits on new super lift springs with new shocks and spring shackles inside of tub is lined. Curently sitting on 31×10.50×15 tires BFG all terrains with at least 90% tread on them body is straight has some scratches and nicks in it windsheild is cracked as well. Keep in mind I use it as a Jeep it goes ooff road and it does it well the kids love it it is not perfect anymore but in good shape just looking to do something different. I am asking $3,900.00 Thats it I do not want any trades I have to many things that I don’t need no scams No free rides If your interested cal or come see it. “I have a 1968 Jeep CJ-5 that needs to be restored. All of the body parts have been removed. There are two bodies for this Jeep. The picture shows the 2nd body that is just resting on the frame. The original body has all of the parts on it. The engine is the original V-6. All of the drive train in there. The two front lock out hubs and door hinges was stolen off of it. I have most of the parts. I am selling this as a complete Jeep. I will not part this Jeep out. I can provide more pictures on request. I am moving and do not have a place to keep it.”
