David, a reader from Texas, shared this video of an abandoned jeep made to run again. Called a CJ-3A in the video, it is clear it was was originally a 2WD DJ-3A. Given the Stewart Warner gauge coupled with the lack of a passenger-side heater vent, this is likely a ’58 or ’59 model. The jeep was adapted to 4WD using the axles from a WWII jeep (steering on the front axle; full floaters on the rear). The transmission cross member is likely WWII as well, though it could be from a 2A. I didn’t watch the entirely of the video, but maybe there are more clues (such as T84 vs T90).

1960 DJ-3A Surrey Sun Valley, CA B-a-T Auction
John shared this Surrey that has been sprayed with a lighter coat of paint. I discovered I have pics of this from at least a decade ago that were part of Bruce Agan’s archives, so it’s been this color for a while.

“This 1960 Willys DJ-3A Surrey is one of a reported 1,000 examples produced between 1959 and 1964, and approximately 200 of the 1,800 miles shown were added since the vehicle was purchased by the seller in 2011. The body has been repainted light pink, and it features 15″ steel wheels, a rear-mounted spare tire, and chrome bumpers as well as vinyl upholstery that matches the pink- and white-striped removable top, spare tire cover, and sides. Power is from a 134ci inline-four paired with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Now showing 1,800 miles, this Surrey is offered in California with an owner’s manual, original sales paperwork, and a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s business.”
Year? DJ-3A? Madera, CA $5000
This is listed as a 1956, but the dash is not a DJ-3A, though the body does lack a normal driver’s side fuel inlet. Not sure how much value is here.

Andy shared this custom rig. Listed as a 1953 CJ-3A, it appears the body was formerly a DJ-3A (mostly likely a 1956 based on the 0-8 speedometer). It also has a DJ-3A convertible windshield.
