Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (02/18/2020) This chassis has a approx 1957 (based on the KS 0-9 speedo) DJ-3A convertible body, windshield, and front clip (or at least the grille) on it.

Looks like this has a 3B or a replacement windshield. Looks to be a post 1959 given the passenger side air intake. Am I just sleepy or does this have an odd heater setup?

(10/16/2019) This looks to have an Szekely APU hood and possibly a DJ-3A body (I can just make out the DJ-3A parking brake hole on the dash).

Jim spotted these jeeps for sale. They were listed as part of a garage sale last month, but the ad is still up so maybe some or all the jeeps are still there. I’ve included a pic of the FC and of what appears to be a former airport baggage handling DJ-3A.

Despite it’s wretched shape, there’s some useful parts on this convertible DJ-3A (not $1500 worth though), including remnants of the convertible top, a topic about which we DJ guys would like to know more.

Thanks to Nick for spotting this garage sale. It occurred last weekend, but maybe some jeeps remain. The FC has potential. The yellow DJ-3A appears to have been a cargo loader.

This has a DJ-3A body and front clip. It may be a DJ-3A chassis, as it appears to have the rear tank in back. So, it may have a DJ-3A that has been converted to 4WD.

“Frame s/n 10248 good condition, no title, no motor, front and rear propelled axles with drive propellers, T90 transmission, model 18 transfer case, shift levers damaged, by previous owner, both cases will need to be gone thru for possible repairs. Body has holes in flooring and in hat channels, but can be readily repaired with just a little mig welding skill. 4 good CJ rims, axles roll easily. Also offering a CJ2A early block, s/n 23555 if not wanted, will deduct 200$ from 800$ total! Block has no cracks, face original never resurfaced, no pitting on head gasket surface area.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Were $300.
After a closer look, it appears the serial number makes the DJ-3A a 1962 (#56337 22581).
“Here’s a rare 60/40 or split front seat out of my 1964 DJ3A. It needs restoration or recovering. My DJ3A was a surrey originally and you can see the original pink and white stripes under the tan. Frame has been repaired at some point. Perfect for your surrey restoration.”

(12/30/2020) This DJ-3A has been chopped a bit. I’d have to guess that the front axle has been added to the DJ chassis. It looks like the rear axle is a standard 4-lug DJ axle.
