This is a nice looking DJ-3A.  I’m a little surprised that at an opening bid of $2500 there are no bids.

“1958/62 Willys DJ-3A (Dispatcher) 2WD Jeep. This jeep is a 1962 open body DJ3A. Tagged & titled as a 1958 DJ3A. Included is the original 1962 SN tag w/Jeep in case you wish to have new title issued by your state DMV.  1962 SN Tag does match number stamped on frame.  actual mileage unknown. Jeep runs & drives good w/good power from RMC M38 military motor. I have no information on engine as far as amount of miles on it or any work done to it.  Recently had mechanic installed new head gasket & he stated motor looked great inside for used eng.”

Here’s an unusual find. It appears to be a pretty stock DJ-3A.  It looks to be in very good condition.  If it’s running and no rust, I’d say this is a great collector piece.

I haven’t run across very many DJ-3As in running condition.  It looks like it would be very restorable.  See the text from the old Aug 1, 2008, craigslist ad below —

“I have a 1961 willys DJ3a that has military running gear. The body is in very good shape and the flat head 4 runs extremely well. Has very good oil pressure, does not smoke, drives very good for a 61 willys. The body is sanded down because i was going to paint it to get rid of the cheesy camo paint job that was on it. I have 150 dollars of slate grey metallic paint primer, and reducer and what not that will go with the willys for the right price. Please call and make an offer i am a very motivated seller, I need to get the jeep out of my buddies barn. “

“1962 DJ-3A Willys Jeep Dispatcher,4 CYL, 3 speed column shift, needs total restoration, ran fine when parked. Purchased the Jeep roughly 26 years ago. Was my daily driver for years. My son’s classmates used to call him GI Joe when I dropped him off to school. Wanted to restore it with my son but 1 home and 3 children later, he just doesn’t have the time. Title states that it is a 1954 but the vin number says that it is a 1962.”
