Steve reports from Redding’s Kool April Nites 2014.
“Here’s a one-of-a-kind Willys at Kool April Nites entry. The show ended today, but I thought I’d share these interesting photos. It’s a ’58 Willys Pickup re-powered with a Maserati Quattroporte V8.
All kinds of cars and trucks attend this event. Vintage celebrities such as Mike Love, of the Beach Boys, try to blend in as an every day car enthusiast. My buddy recognized him when they talked about his ’69 Berger Camaro for sale in the Car Corral today. Mike Love is an original hot-rodder from the days of the first muscle car, such as a ’61 Chevy with a 409 V8. There are also many pioneer hot-rodders and their latest creations.
Of course, there are some factory correct Willys vehicles that come out to enjoy the spring weather in Redding, too. I just thought I’d share this very original creation with you, as I was shocked at to see this unique combination of engine/body style.”

“Asking price as of now is $3k. DSS sells their full up rotating assemblies for nearly 2k, so with thousands in other parts, plus all of my time, material, VIN tags and title, etc, I feel this is reasonable. Bounce ideas off of me, doesn’t hurt to ask. Not taking trades. At all.

This jeep isn’t for sale, but appeared in my Craigslist search (It’s the drift bike in front of it that is actually for sale). I thought the jeep was interesting enough to share.

“I’m not hurting on this at all! With us looking to buy a a home this year and financial progress on hold until that is done, I am considering selling the willys hot rod for the $4200 I have in it. That’s as a roller with good motor/ trans, but still needing nickel and dime parts. I’ll finish it if I don’t sell it once we have our own place but it’s money that could be used else where for now. It does not run or drive right now, still needs finishing. Brakes, cooling system, plumbed, rear coil overs or airbags, paint, steering work, paneling to cover rear… Hopefully this will weed out some of the tire kickers and “serious buyers.”
