Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1950 Willys Jeepster, Limited Production over model years 1948-1950. This is the original and rare Flathead Six-Cylinder Model with a 3-speed column shift transmission with Overdrive. I am the third owner, the second owner from SF had it for 50 years. Always CA. Registered. Car was restored in Modesto in 1993 and again in 2005 with receipts for all work. Less than 1,000 miles since restoration in 1993 (sorry, but true). Includes 6 Volt Battery Tender, premium car cover, side curtains and top in very good condition, CA Registration valid thru May 2020. Clear Title in my name. Electric Fuel Pump, Remote Oil Filter (original cannister type included), Directional Signals (not offered with the car when new, added later). Deficiencies: charging system erratic, Speedometer not working (recent). Believe never in an accident, body panels original, one small patch in Front Passenger footwell. Repainted in 1993, it would benefit from wet sanding and machine polish.”

UPDATE: Prices dropped on both Jeepsters.
The bumpers and tail lights appear in pretty good condition. There could be some parts value here. Looks like there’s an early 1950s Wagon in the background, too.

“1948 Willy-Overland Jeepster VIN VJ310820, , with 63 HP 4 cylinder flat head engine. Has no rust, runs well. Has directional lights, radio, fog lights, and 2 sets of side curtains. One set are canvas and plastic like the originals, the others are clear acrylic plastic 3/16’ thick. There is no rust. The exterior is in very good condition except that there is a ¾” dia. bubble in the paint on the hood. The interior is also in very good condition. The floor rugs have been replaced as well as the seat covers. The roof is also in very good condition. I keep a 50 weight oil in the engine to maintain a good oil pressure at all times. The air filter on the engine is not original.
The current mileage is 62876
The chrome is in good shape and is not pitted.
Included with the vehicle are the following extras, Mechanics manual, Dwell meter, timing light and a complete spare engine.”
I can’t remember if I shared this one or not. So, here we go (possibly again) … This oddity was built from parts left over from projects. The pics were shared on Facebook, but unfortunately I didn’t save the post, so I can’t tell you who built this.

“A total of 19,000 Jeepsters were made between 1948 and 1951, but only 1900 were made in 1949. This has been called the last of the American Phaetons. This is not a show car, but a beautiful driver that has been in the family for over 30 years. I have used it in my Magic shows for the last 20 years. It is with great sorrow that I’m selling this part of our family but I am unable to drive it enough to keep; it is time to let someone else enjoy what our family have enjoyed so much.
