Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (12/27/2016) “Here’s a Jeepster that is begging to be finished ! Before moving from Iowa to Missouri, I had removed the body (tub) and totally restored the chassis. Upgraded the engine to a 4.3L short block from a ’92 Chev pickup ( has TBI ), rebuilt 700r4trans, rebuilt DANA 44rear axle with new brakes, rebuilt DANA 30 front axle with new brakes, rebuilt power steering, all new springs& bushings, new custom driveshafts, new wheels & tires. Saved all the wiring from the Chevy, so all can be used including the Chevy instrument panel. New plastic gas tank. Have good body from Colorado with xtra doors, perfect tailgate, new chromed bumpers, new bumper guards , and many other extras. This body has had the underside already cleaned, repaired, primed and painted. The expensive part is done, as I have over $15,000 invested in the project . Finishing the body is all this Jeepster needs, but I am no longer set up to do this work anymore. My loss – your gain. Call& we’ll talk. All engine accessories are new : Alternator, A/C compressor, water pump, power steering pump , all belts, hoses, etc. Engine was test run in May, fluids filled, all checked OK. It’s now packed and ready to winch onto your trailer.”
It’s a project. Not much rust.

“Cool project car. Is a 1949 body with 1950 front end. Titled as 1950. Asking $3600 OBO. Clear title. Collector plate.
Have been collecting parts for many years. Still missing some. Has L-226 engine(not original) with original 3 speed transmission. Original dana rear end. 6 volt. Have extra 4 cylinder engine and running gear parts. Windshield frame has been shortened for a rat rod theme. I do have stock windshield for a little more on asking price. Needs work. Engine turns over and has compression. Jeepster will have to be transported after purchase as does not run or stop. If you are serious please contact me. It needs a new home. Has been stored inside for 15 plus years.”

“For sales is a nice 1948 Jeepster. We searched a long time before finding this car outside of Philadelphia and bring it up to MA. It’s a great driver with the 3 speed on the column and overdrive.
A very nice older body off restoration. Runs well. Good mechanically, paint good, chrome is excellent. Engine was rebuilt at time of restoration. This is a good driver ready for family fun or is a good start for someone who wants to turn it into a show car.
