Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “For sale a 1962 USMC M170 long wheel base. This a USMC Barstow ambulance/radio jeep thats in good condition with no rust. Runs and drives. New military jeep tires and wheels along with a new spare tire carrier and gerry can holder. New complete original stock muffler system. New speedometer and cable. New oil pressure line and gauge. New battery. All fluids have been replaced. Brakes are good and steering is good too. Prior owner rebuilt the engine.”

“M170 Ambulance — 90% restoration — canvas/bows, rebuilt F134, all seals, gears, transmission gone thru and rebuilt where needed, new tires, brakes, steering damper, radiator, converted to 24vdc alternator instead of generator, lights, horn, wipers, etc. working condition, new exhaust/muffler, body bumpers/cushions installed, little to no rust, tub in great condition. M101 restored, new bows, boards and used cover, brakes work, little rust in bed. Lots of restoration photos available. New gauges, new speedometer, 24vdc magnetic spot lights included, extra wheels and tires included.”

“1963 M-170 Marine Corps Jeep – has a lot of mods, also have matching trailer, runs and drives fine, registered for street use, have had it since about 1994 or so, was featured in Four Wheel Offroad mag and is pretty rare, it’s in pretty good shape.

“1954 M-170. This is a Korean-War-era military field ambulance/radio vehicle made by Willys. This particular Jeep was a radio vehicle, not ambulance. Radio switches/gauges and antenna mount present, but radio equipment gone. Was a ranch Jeep for past 42 years.
Drivetrain and axles are stock with minor exceptions. Ignition was converted to 12-volt and generator replaced with Delco alternator with external regulator by previous owner. Also, civilian carb was installed on the stock 134-cube F-head. Transmission is stock T-90 and T-case is factory twin-stick Spicer 18.
