“Have for sale a 1955 M170 frontline ambulance. Date of delivery 3/55. Has its data plates on the dash that matches the serial number on the passenger wheel well. Still wears its hood numbers. Overall it is in solid shape. Pretty rust free. Floors, toolboxes and the spare wheel well are solid. Even the hat channels are solid which is hard to find. Overall in pretty great shape for its age. Back cross member needs fixed, frame is fine. Included is a section to fix it. Has correct M170 windshield, 4 correct wheels, front and rear sway bars, correct m170 drivers seat and mostly complete top bows. Extra correct tire and wheel is included. Engine is missing distributer and generator — unsure of its condition. Not interested in trades at the moment.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
(12/28/2016) Hasn’t run in a while.
“1954 M170, had been converted to 12v and civilian seats. Also passenger side has been modified to fit regular-sized doors. Was running several years ago when parked. Would be a good candidate for restoring to front-line ambulance, or as a radio jeep, your choice. Was from Arizona, flat-towed up to Missouri. Rust-free, engine not stuck. Have SOME original parts to go with it, CORRECT ambulance top, some passenger seat and original bows. NEW tires (not pictured) all the way around. True mileage unknown. Open title from Arizona.”
Bill shared this one.

“The Willys model M170 is the ambulance version of Willy M38A1. The Willy M170 was used during Korean War. I have owed this vehicle for about 6 years. It was a frame off restoration completely rebuilt including body and engine. Has very few miles since restoration. Runs strong 4wd works good. It is not titled for street use however can be by following Motor Vehicle registration in your state. It was not titled when I brought it as it was complete rebuild of military registered vehicle and previous owner never licensed for road use. I have driven in several military parades and used on my ranch. I will provide Bill of Sale.Buyer is responsible for shipping.”
Could be worth a look. Has some Husky/Allstate hubs.

“Willys M170 frontline ambulance. Not sure on year, no data plates or serial tag, the way I got it. I do have another body with tag for sale (do a combo deal)? Overall in pretty decent shape for its age. Has M38A1 windshield, 4 correct nice wheels, front and rear sway bars, correct tailgate, and rough top bows for pattern. Gas tank needs a spot fixed. Tool boxes and spare tire well is solid. Engine is complete, unsure of condition. Not interested in trades at the moment.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $600.
Not easy to find these bodies.

(08/24/2019) Scott’s got this M-170 for sale.
“1955 JEEP M170 This is a rare bird – rebuilt and in solid shape. As I understand this is a long body M38A1 army jeep and was originally outfitted as troop hauler, radio jeep, or ambulance/medical. May be the early inspiration for the CJ8 Scrambler. Engine rebuilt in 2012. I converted from 24 volt to 12 volt with new starter, alternater, wiring harness, fuse box, head and tail lights, etc. Also has rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump, lines, fuel filter, steering wheel, horn, new set of tires, rebuilt emergency brake.
Comes with a big winch with remote, tow arms, and a box of random parts (can probably sell on eBay). Seats are new and all have lap belts. Runs, steers, brakes good. Ready for neighborhood drive with kids, grandkids. It does have cracked windshield, but easy to buy kit/replace. Its a rare one and priced to go – so no low ballers please. Clean title.”
Has a variety of mods.
