Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (02/26/2015) I think this has a replacement body with an early CJ-2A grille. Looks like a solid rig.
“I’m selling my 1949 Willys jeep, 9,000 miles on rebuilt. Tera low kit in transfer case. Winch with remote. Warn overdrive. Air locker on rear end. Power steering. New wheels with spare tire. ETC. UPDATE: This M-38 was sold March 28th at an in-person-auction.

(09/29/2014) Looks solid. One cylinder has low compression.
“Run good. Has low compression in 1 cylinder. I think it has a stuck valve. Still 24 volt. New gas tank. I have all the top bows but needs canvas. New tires, hoses, belts, ignition parts and exhaust. Carb and fuel pump have been rebuilt. Lost interest and garage space.”

There’s $400 in value here.
“I still have this 52 Willys it is being sold as is no title. It is in very rough condition but it is complete. It has not been started in over 8 years so I do not know if the motor is locked or not. Serious inquiries only I have had to many people say they want it then never show up. Please remember it is a 1952 and in very rough condition. $400 no less. I am not holding it the first person to put $400 cash in my hand gets it.”

“Clean 52 willys m38 military jeep with a rare military hard top. Motor was swapped with Chevy 231 straight 6. Motor is from 62. Runs amazing and fires right up. Everything works and is turn key. Jeep is a real head turner and will take you ANYWHERE. Story behind the jeep was that it was in service during the korean war and was decommisoned from the military in 54. It was then used by the fire department as a utility truck and later sold to the public in the late 50’s. Whoever bought it from the fire department, professionally swapped the oriniginal 4 with the bullet proof Chevy 231. If youre looking for an awesome authentic military jeep, here it is. Clean title and street legal.”

“Hi all, I have a 1952 M38 Willys Jeep up for sale. Not currently running, but great project for someone who has the time to devote on a rare vehicle. The M38 is the military version of the civilian CJ-3A, one of the last flat fender Willys Jeep made.
Body is in great condition. T-90 transmission and Dana 18 transfer case in good shape. Original block replaced by V6 Vortec engine. Vehicle sold as is condition. Clean title in hand, asking $2,200 obo.”
