About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
This looks like a good price for a parts jeep or project. Thanks to Tom for sharing it.
“Up for sale is a 1952 Willy’s M38 Jeep. This was a barn find. Body needs new floors. Motor is missing the head. One tire is flat. Converted to power steering at some point in its life. No seats. I have a new tool box lid and shocks for this jeep. This is a vehicle that has a lot of potential. I simply due not have the time. No current Title.”
“M38 and a I believe a CJ2(not sure of the year on the CJ2. The M38 is dated 3/52). These do not run. Good for parts or restoration. Both motors appear complete but not sure of condition. TM9-804, technical manual for M38 included. No title, bill of sale only. I can help load. $650.00 each or $1,200 for both/obo.”
“WILLYS M38 ROLLING CHASSIS WITH ENGINE for sale, body not included
“I bought this interesting jeep purely for the GPW body it has on it.
For sale is for everything (other that body and exterior parts ) on the Rolling Chassis including drive train which I believe is from an Willy’s M38 . The engine too is L134 and correctly M38 engine ( casting # 641087) to the best of my knowledge. T 90 transmission and transfer case , all axles etc with wheels . Both the rolling chassis and engine are in very good , clean condition. Engine is in good running order.
I do have an Arizona title for the chassis .”
“This is a 1952 Willys M38. The engine is a four cylinder L134 flat head known as the go devil engine. Engine is not numbers matching to frame but it is the engine that would have been in it originally. It has the T90 transmission with a Dana 18 transfer case. 5.38 gears. It is not fast but will top out at 45-50 mph.
It has been converted to a 12 volt system wired with a Painless wiring kit. Fuel tank has been replaced by the previous owner.
I replaced the master cylinder and the oil pan gasket last summer. Runs Drives and stops. Also has a rear tire carrier that I removed as well as a best top bikini top.
I also have a rebuild kit for the transmission what would be included. When driving in second gear under no load from the engine the transmission slips into neutral.
Reach out with ANY questions. Price is not solid and is negotiable.”
“Old military jeep 50 to 52 m38 Korean war jeep willys what u see is what u get no title all of drive trans is there no filter excepting offeres and trades”
“Up for sale is a M38 Willys military Jeep. It is a good restoration prospect! It has not run in 10+ years and will need engine, transmission, and other drive train work to get it back on the road.
A lot of the critical parts you will need are still on the Jeep. The body and fenders are very straight. Hood includes the snorkel hole plate. Only known filler is the passenger side rear corner. It will need a new floor to restore. It has all of the major electrical parts (starter, regulator, and generator). Other parts present include floor plates, correct seat frames, new glass and gasket 5 years ago, proper original and correct M38 oil bath air cleaner, crossover pipe, front shackle brackets, etc. It has 4 of the original and correct wheels. Very old tires (including Mohawk Chief and U.S. Royal) need to be replaced, although current tires do hold air.
The vehicle has no title. Dash board data plate is missing. Original MC-????? Original data plate on the passenger side wheel well shows MC-xxxx7. Can make out the MC, but not all of the numbers. These were built from 1949-1952. Guessing it is a 1952.
Included in the sale is another M38 engine and transmission (last 3 pictures). Treat as a core.
Let me know should you need to see any additional photos.
The $2500 price is FIRM…..do not ask!
Local pickup in Freeport, TX. It will need to be trailered.
Payment is cash upon pick up.
No title..”

“Super clean Jeep here! Nice leather seats, roll bar, soft top with doors and zip outs. It was upgraded to a 12 volt system with an alternator. Has power steering, heater, and nice sounding exhaust. No rust in the body. Comes with 5 brand new Yokohama MT’s and Aluminum Wheels. Has spare mounted on a receiver for back or front bumper. Has additional rear fuel tank. Has warn overdrive, and manual locking hubs, good brakes, and new windshield. Starts right up, the Buick V-6 runs great, plenty of power. It is a 3-speed manual and the clutch is in good shape, very positive and no slip. Comes with tow bar as well. Less than 60,000 miles. All the lights work, and it has a clean title. Price is OBO, so feel free to make a fair offer, but please consider how rare these are and especially in this condition.”
