About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“My personal M38 is for sale because I am downsizing my collection. This is a great example of the M38. Included with the sale is the trailer pictured on the back. This jeep runs, drives, and looks great! Great little weekend cruiser that will get lots of looks.”
(12/19/2014) Has the front of the rollcage installed on the steps.
“1951 Jeep m38 283 small block chevy. Runs good, with only about 500 miles on engine. Rebuilt transfer case, bigger brakes all new, dual exaust, bigger dana rear end, heavy duty rear bumper. No texts. Call number for questions.”
This was just posted at warjeeps.com. It looks really nice ….
“This fully restored M38 has been body off frame restored, both cosmetically and mechanically to new. This rare, complete Arctic Package M38 includes a factory removable aluminum hard top and doors with sliding glass windows, 20,000 BTU gas heater and deep water fording system for the air intake & exhaust.”
“1951 Willies Jeep motor is not good, but, has Buick v6, 3 speed manual trans with overdrive which was working when I parked it..This is a project Jeep and will need new interior and paint. Body is straight and not rusted.I have had this Jeep for 39 years but no longer have paper work on it.”
“This jeep has been in a storage shed for over 30 years, I have not had it running. It has a pretty solid body and has most of the original military features in tact. i.e. 24 volt electrical, headlight guards, bows, etc.. I do have a clear title which indicates the 1951 Willys status but does not reflect the same serial number?
There is a rust hole in the right rear corner and the passenger side floor board looks week, other wise pretty solid. The gas tank has been replaced by a civilian tank with smaller filler, not sure why. It does not turn over at this point, but I have not tried very hard.”
“I have here a 50s style Willy’s Jeep. I got it as a project for me to work on in my spare time. But I have not had time to track down all the parts. This Jeep would be a perfect project and once completed would make for an awesome collection.”
Jamison let me know that a friend of his has a large number of jeeps and military vehicles for sale. It looks like they are out of Texas. I don’t have time to go through all the links, so I’ll leave the hunting up to you:
(04/08/2017) The M-38 didn’t have full floaters in the rear (see last sentence in description). Jeep looks solid.
“In 1950, Willys introduced the M-38 (identified as an “MC” by Willys), a post-WWII Jeep based on the CJ-3A and fitted will military-specific features, including a one-piece foldable windshield, bottom-mounted wipers, a pintle hook for towing, lifting shackles, and a fuel filler on the drivers side. Pioneer tools (axe and shovel) were mounted on the passenger side, and larger tires were used (7:00×16) along with a waterproof electrical system, requiring a second battery. The M38 suspension and frame were stronger than that of its civilian sibling (the CJ-3A) and had a full-floating rear axle.”
Original Paint?? This Ford made M-38 has been repowered (f-head?).
“Original paint just put on new tires registered up-to-date pink in hand willing to trade. Great Christmas gift! Also comes with original ax and shovel!!”
