Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is an old 1953 Willys military Jeep that belongs to a friend of mine in rural Owyhee County. He has been driving this around his place for several years, but now has too many other vehicles. He has no way to this show this to anyone out where he lives, so his had me bring it to town, and list it on Craig’s list. There are some spare parts that go with it including an extra grill, a starter, generator, 2 extra engines, and some extra wheels. The tires are close to new condition, and as a new carburetor on it. It has a four-cylinder F head engine that runs well. It certainly needs to be rewired to drive on the roads. The engine has few miles on it since being overhauled. It came out of a similar Jeep that had been rolled and totaled. It’s a long way from being a creampuff, however, these old military jeeps are getting very hard to find. This is in good condition, and worth restoring.”

“This is a 1953 M38a-1. It has the original 4 cyinder engine and transmission. Lots of original parts. 24 volt system. Mileage unknown. The Jeep runs but it needs help, I wouldn’t consider it to be in road worthy condition right now but they could be some minor fixes. This is a great little jeep that has been sitting for far to long. It is time for it to have a new owner.”
