While the concept of the Super Drake was tested, I don’t believe it ever achieved production (at least I couldn’t find anything about it).
“An Original 1956 ONE-Page pictorial that was removed from a vintage Magazine. Perfect size to mat and frame, it measures 6½ x 9¼ inches.
Article Excerpt: “With eight wheels, all of them powered, the Army’s latest amphibious vehicle, the Drake, can outride the heaviest surf.”
Shown on bottom of page is the first 2 1/2-ton Duck, the 4-ton Superduck and the Drake.”

John forwarded these two great photos. I couldn’t find these published in any specific issue of the magazine.
At least I think that’s a Ford GP. I’m having trouble telling given the photo’s angle. The page is 14×11 inches.

What’s strange about this 1946 article is that it doesn’t show an ‘Army Jeep’. It shows an early CJ-2A. Anyone know where this article appeared?

This page from a 1972 issue of Hot Rod Magazine shows Carey Stanley in a 302 Chevy Powered Flatfender in Bakersfield, CA.

This June 1943 Automotive Digest has several jeeps ads.
“This is a nice original example of AUTOMOTIVE DIGEST magazine from mid 1943. In most ways it is like any other example of AUTOMOTIVE DIGEST, but this issue contains several nice ads from various manufacturers featuring a variety of World War II jeeps like the Ford GP, Ford GPW and / or Willys MB slat-grills, the standardized Ford / Willys jeep and the GPA or amphibious jeep.”

This is Volume 1, #2 of Vagabond: Adventures in 4-Wheel Drive.
“NOS Jeep Vol #1 Issue#2 “Vagabond” Adventures In 4WD, Factory Magazine sent to customers, 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, 30 pages of articles that would appeal to a broad band of potential “JEEP” customers and sprinkled with liberal doses of Jeep product ads and tie ins.”
In August of 1946 Fortune published an article called “Willys Overland”. The description reads, This jeep riding independent is taking new leases on life and its own real estate. The boys in the back room are doing fine.

This is certainly an unusual photo.
“Yank, the Army Weekly was a weekly magazine published by the United States military during World War II. The idea for the magazine came from Egbert White, who had worked on Stars and Stripes during World War I. The first issue was published with the cover date of June 17, 1942. The magazine was written by enlisted rank soldiers only and was made available to the soldiers, sailors, and airmen serving overseas. It was published at facilities around the world—British, Mediterranean, Continental, and Western Pacific—for a total of 21 editions in 17 countries. Yank was the most widely read magazine in the history of the U.S. military, achieving a worldwide circulation of more than 2.6 million. Each issue was priced from five cents to 10 cents because it was felt that if soldiers paid, they would have a higher regard for the publication. Each issue was edited in New York City and then shipped for printing around the world where staff editors added local stories. The last issue was published in December 1945.”
