“1961 M-422 Mighty Mite military jeep.

These were used only by the USMC. Like a mini-Hummer H1 HMMWV. Aluminum body, 4-wheel independent suspension, inboard brakes, limited slip differentials front and rear. Built by AMC.

Air-cooled V4 engine. 4 speed transmission. 4-wheel-drive. Neat little 4×4.

Runs, drives, stops. Batteries are tired and will need replaced. Comes with extras. Two windshields, spare tire and mount, extra generator, rear jump seats, manuals, some other stuff. No top.

“This is the last year Willys made the Jeep. This is a half ton. Runs great. I have used it only on the farm for the last five years so it has not been licensed for 5 years. It has a rebuilt V8 with maybe 50,000 miles. Blazer running gear. Plenty of power. A few rust spots. Been parked under cover in my barn for most of the time I’ve owned it (20 + years). Has had a $350 tune up in the last year. Sold the farm so I don’t need it. Four wheel drive works great. Will go anywhere in 4 wheel low gear. $2000 OBO May consider some type of partial trade.”

“Selling my good running Pinz because I am not using it as planned and I’m building a house. Purchased in 10/14 from Colorado. Prior owner painted the vehicle and did not treat surface rust beforehand (see photos). Original 4-cylinder. Speedo/odo is disconnected so mileage is unknown at present. Shifts smoothly through all five gears and transfer case works flawlessly in all three positions. Portal axles. 24 volt system with dual deep cycle batteries wired in series. Has newer all-weather cab top. Rear top and sides are original, but more than serviceable. Interior in good shape. Legally registered in CA. If you don’t know the breed, a little research will tell you all you need to know. No trades.”

These are rare jeeps.

“For sale. 1984 AMC Jeep CJ8 Alaskan postal version (right hand drive!!!). It has an inline 258 6-cylinder and is an automatic (very rare for older jeeps) 4×4. Floor shift with floor-mounted, hand-operated emergency brake. It fires right up, does run smoothly and drive, but needs some TLC. The left front fender is dented; there is some rust in the right side front rocker; and the driver’s (right side) floor pan will need replacing. It also slips a little in second. No rust in tub, wheel wells or reinforced frame. Still has AMC/Jeep mud flaps attached.

Here in the U.S., the Cj-8 Scrambler was marketed mainly as workman like pickup. The Alaskan postal service ordered 230 Cj-8s equipped with the world cab , side opening “barn door” and insulating foam sprayed in the entire cargo area to ensure the mail indeed did get delivered. This jeep is still 85% USPS complete and would make a great candidate for a full postal restoration. You can see where the old USPS stripes and logos were, as well as the USPS unit number on the front windshield and back door. Even has the original postal herringbone cloth seat! 132,000 original miles. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own this rare RHD model of an already rare Jeep!”
