Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Charles sent a picture of this wagon. After some research, I learned the unusual modifications were completed by John Jennison, who was an Australian engineer, car builder, motorcycler and more. He had a vision for a jeep as a sports wagon. More information can be found at this vintage caravans forum and at Brendan’s this-old-jeep website.

This French built Arnault jeep featured at oldwoodies is probably one-of-a-kind.
Note on the far left there’s an Austin Champ. Is that a Range Rover in the middle?
While looking for something else I ran across this Sedan-modified jeep at Bangshift. According to the article, someone combined a Renault 4L with a MB or GPW. I can’t find any clues as to which jeep was used.
Here’s another unusual London woodie. Note it is an improved model, suggesting Burleigh made others.

UPDATE: Was $500. **SOLD**
It looks like someone was feeling creative.
“For Sale– 1943 Willys Jeep in restorable condition or for parts. Comes with snow plow. Ran when parked. Please leave message. Call after 6p.m.”
I stumbled upon this unusual Willys creature at this prewarcar website. I guess Wally Cohn wasn’t the only person trying to create a unique body on top of the Willys platform.
“2 of these willys mb were bodied in germany in 1945. one was destroyed, ended in hamburg probably beeing rebodied to an original jeep, so when i got that survivor i did not do the same mistake and put it on the road again. now it is one of a kind with all the original chassis, drivetrain, axles etc. even with the original data plate date of delivery nov.11, 1944 (author Bussinger Kfz)”

“This is a real classic,early 40’s jeep with a Jeep-a-trench,nobody around here has never seen one,I turn the engine over by hand,the estate it came from he trenched there water lines, all the levers work.I think it is really unusally.The only other on e-bay is $5500 without the jeep it is very rare.Thank you I have drop the price $500 will also consider offers this is for sale.I am droping the price another $500.Thank you”
Many readers will remember last May’s explosive expose on the Wally Cohn custom ‘jeep’ built in Germany. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t an explosion heard round the world, but there were a few of us who were interested.
Well, along those lines I found a MB/GPW at Hemmings which had been modified with fenders that brought the Wally Jeep to mind. Here are some pics from the Hemmings Post.

(09/30/2010) From the description, you wouldn’t know there’s been a serious modification to this jeep. I’ve seen something similar, but I don’t think it was this one.
“1948 Willys. original flathead 4 cylinder motor, manual tranny, 4X4, and power takeoff. Runs good and 4X4 and power takeoff works. Antique title. Came from South Dakota. ”
I ran across this today at the Jeep Forum. Posted last year, someone was trying to identify it. This is the closest thing I have seen to a Wally Cohn Jeep.
