1943 Bantam Trailer Lodi, Ca **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: trailer This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was listed at $2000

Dexter is listing his trailer for sale.  He has lots of pictures of it.

“I bought this gem months ago. It is unrestored, unmolested and in IMMACULATE original condition. Must see to believe. When I bought it, there was a thin coat of civvy paint, which came right off with repeated wipes of a wet rag. Under that is a coat of OD, which looks like it was put on 30+ years ago, and then the original OD. The shiny parts that you see are the areas where I applied some linseed oil.

The Good
– Original, unmolested, no-rust, solid body
– Original fenders (from another 1943 Bantam)
– Original data plate
– Original lunette
– Original 3-hole swivel
– Original leg
– Original chains, hooks, and wedges
– Original drawbar
– Original handbrake (works great)
– Original drain plug
– Original BO switch (from another 1943 Bantam)
– Original reflectors (faded side reflectors came from another 1943 Bantam)
– Original 1963 California black plate with PTI sticker
– Current DMV registration to my name
The not-so-good
– M38 rims
– Original 3-hole swivel is broken (I still have it, and it’s fixable. Currently on the trailer is a solid T3C leg, with a solid 2-hole swivel. It matches the paint of the trailer perfectly.)
– Original fenders were modified and are no longer with the trailer (As noted above, I’m including a set of original fenders from a 1943 Bantam. Layers of civvy paint just needs to be removed)
– Some remnants of the original wiring
– Additional holes added on rear crossmember due to bumperettes being installed
– One tail light bracket is not original
– No original tail lights
– One tiny hole on the front-driver-side corner”

1943 MB w/trailer Klamath Falls, OR **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: MB, trailer • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was on eBay

“As my project draws to a close, I offer for sale this 1943 Willys 1/4T Reconnaissance Truck (jeep)(MB213995) and Willys 1/4T Trailer, Utility, restored to motorpool standards.   For those of you who have not experienced military life, this means running correctly with the correct components as required to safely operate the vehicle during the WWII era.  The only exception to this is the trailer which has not yet been restored, which would not stop you from driving the jeep and trailer in most parades without doing a thing to it.  I have documented the entire tub off restoration of the jeep and assure you both run well.   All the jeeps major systems (drive train, engine, trans, TC, electrical, fuel and brakes) have been thoroughly disassembled, cleaned, repaired or replaced and reassembled with era-correct reproduction or original NOS parts as specified in SNLG503 (the Army parts catalog for this type of vehicle). I have only really begun to return the 1944 Willys MBT trailer to it’s former glory, I serviced the wheel bearings, brakes and cosmetically cleaned up the trailer, so the new owner can have an active hand in the final restoration.  The trailer will need have a wiring harness installed and mount some NDT tires to completely match the jeep.  I want potential bidders to know that the trailer lunette and rims are post WWII parts from the sucessor to this model the M100.  As anyone who gets bit by the “OD Fever” will tell you it’s impossible to restore one of these old warriors to working condition, by the book, without spending a few bucks along the way.”

Sam’s Jeep Trailer

• CATEGORIES: trailer • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Flatfender Willys owner Sam Thomas scaled back his projects for a while, but  plans on creating a little busier shop.  After doing some research, he believes he is the only flatfender-specific rebuilder and restorer left along the eastern slope of colorado now that Mile-Hi Jeep has closed.  So, he is looking to hire a couple mechanics who are experts with older jeeps. If you are interested, call Sam at 720-841-0614.

If you have been reading eWillys for a while, you might have remembered Sam was working on a simple conversion process for adding a rack and pinion steering system to an older jeep.  I will detail that tomorrow.

In the meantime, I wanted to share Sam’s recent project, a trailer designed specifically for carrying a jeep.  Here are the specifics.
