“1946 Willy’s Jeep CJ2A street legal.”
This three-part article appeared in the August 1959 issue of Car Life magazine. The first two-page article is a general look at both vehicles. Then, there’s a long review of the Willys Wagon followed by a long review of the Land Rover. I got the sense that the reviewer Mr. Jim Whipple was more impressed with the Land Rover than the wagon. You be the judge….
Willyls Wagon review:
Nice looking 2A.

“Here’s the Jeep for a Rubicon Run. Powerful V-6 Buick Motor Conversion, Aluminum Radiator, Electric Fan, Nice Navy Grey Paint, Oversize Cleat Tires, Lifted, Full Canopy Door Top, 2 Extra Gas Tanks, Towbar and Hitch, Road Lite Bar and Much more!! A personal Jeep owned many years by a particular Owner. This is a rare production model built in 1942 by Willys for government issue. Painted in correct Navy Gray, Recently Serviced and needing nothing to drive away!! 4-wheel drive and 3 Speed Manual Transmission original to the vehicle. Vehicle is in Medford, Oregon.“
Very much a project. Pinto is a great engine for a jeep, but in my opinion I’d go with the 2.3 for the extra power.

“All there except carb(I’d get a Weber) and rear driveshaft. Ford ts 1.6. (Pinto engine super nice in these!!)The clutch and adapter kit are all new. Clear nonop title in my name.”
Though listed at $14,000, the seller is asking for offers. Includes a new tub kit and other new parts, but still a big project.
