About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“1946 Jeep CJ3A. Has 4-cyl (151 ci) Chevy iron duke with T-19 4-speed and Dana 18 transfer case. 5.38 Gears. Stock steering. Motor runs but carb needs to be rebuilt and has factory steering that could be re done. Great little Jeep to fix up and make a great rig.”
Mike spotted this detailed rebuild converted to 4-Wheel-Drive. There are a few pics of the rebuild on the ad.
“The Willy’s Jeepster was Willys attempt shortly after world war two, to enter into the family car business as Willys had previously made only jeeps. The “Jeepsters” as they were called had Jeep looking front ends and came as a two wheel drive, convertible, 4 cylinder engine and “three on the tree” transmissions. What makes this Willys so unique and cool, is that it has been converted to a 4X4 with “three on the floor” and has an upgraded fresh 6-cylinder engine to boot making this Jeepster a one of a kind. The”French Grey” paint color really looks great and this Jeepster really turns heads. The bigger wheels and tires give this Jeepster an awesome stance. (lift this thing 3 more inches and put a roll-bar on it to send it to the moon) This is a frame up restoration with a newly rebuilt 6-cylinder engine. (see build pictures) Perfect for this Southern California weather and beaches. This is something that you will not have to worry about anyone else having. Its sad, but need to sell due to this coronavirus economy.”
“1945 mb2a running jeep. Its rough.. but can hit the trails. Has another frame and tub and front fenders plus more extra parts. Stock 4 cylinder flat head and running gear.its a three generation jeep. Clean title. Runs and drives just needs a overhaul.”
“1946 Jeep Willy’s CJ-2A good shape, first year made available to public after WWII.
Roll Bar, Tow Bar, Trailer Hitch, Oversize newer radiator and gas tank. Runs good. Original engine and running gear, 3046 Miles. Last registered 2015.”
“New rebuilt 327ci with less than 50 miles.
Rebuilt by Adams Metallizing in Lancaster, CA
Newer axles from a 1975 CJ5
Power steering
Power brakes
Hydraulic clutch
3 speed manual T-15
New in box windshield glass
New in box steel dash
New in box black soft top with soft doors
Everyone kept suggesting a high performance build when rebuilding the motor. I had to remind everyone what it was going back into. That light weight body does not need a high performance built motor. The stock 327ci has enough to power that little jeep anywhere you need to go. By not being high performance it won’t be temperamental either. Continue reading →
Restored 1903 Olds built to replicate one driven across the United States in 1903 from New York to San Francisco.I’m checking out the flywheel.
On Friday we left Fullerton to spend a couple nights in Thousand Oaks. Before we got to the hotel, we drove out to Oxnard to visit Murphy’s Auto Museum.
Today we travelled from Fullerton to Oxnard, before stopping at Thousand Oaks, California.
The museum began as a private collection. However, that collection was mostly sold off and replaced by individuals who wanted to store their vehicles at the museum. For the next few weeks, Murphy’s is having a vintage camper display.
Custom camper with a display that includes items found inside it. Okay, maybe the fake little girl wasn’t inside it, but the items (you can’t see well behind me) were in it.
This bright trailer includes a model that must be set up with the trailer any time it appears in public.
This 24-page Universal Jeep Brochure provides a look at both the CJ-2A and CJ-3A, with pics of both. That led me to believe this was most likely published in early 1949. Most of this appears to be images/info that we’ve seen bundled in other brochures and documents.
The biographical book Joe Lewis: The Life of a Heavyweight includes a short look (pages 193-196) at his time in the military during WWII. The book explains that he had a unique opportunity to advocate for black troops, due to his substantial connection inside the War Department. He took advantage of his connections to overcome discriminatory practices that he witnessed.
