About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
These two ads from Time magazine currently on eBay show just how different the company approached advertising in that publication. Unfortunately both are poor quality scans.
Given this brochure includes a Surrey, it was likely printed between 1960-1962. This four-page brochure was auctioned on eBay back in 2015. It lacks a form number; it may have been produced by Kaiser Industries rather than Willys Motors.
UPDATE: In case you missed it, FCA has won the first round of the FCA vs. Mahindra legal case over the jeep-looking Roxor. The court ruled that Mahindra violated FCAs “Trade Dress”, which isn’t a specific trademark or patent, because the Roxor looks so much like a jeep. Mahindra is currently deciding whether to appeal.
This was the second win against Mahindra. The first win came in January when the International Trade Commission agreed with Jeep’s charge that the company was not contractually barred from suing Mahindra for a Trade Dress violation. This freed Jeep up to pursue the recently won lawsuit.
Originally posted September 29, 2019: This article from the Detroit Free Press highlights the successful introduction of Roxors, to the point that the company can’t keep up with demand. Unfortunately for Jeep, there’s some real branding problems, as I’ve seen countless people on Craigslist advertising these as “jeeps”. Moreover, do a Google search for “Jeep ATV” and Roxors pop up on the results page.
“This 1947 Willys CJ2A was acquired by the seller out of Georgia in 2018 and has since been repowered with a Kubota 2.2-liter turbodiesel inline-four mated to a three-speed manual gearbox and a two-speed transfer case. The body has been repainted in a desert camouflage scheme, and the truck is lifted over 32″ tires on beadlock wheels. Additional modifications include a roll cage, side steps, power steering, an 8k-pound winch, replacement seats, and more. This CJ2A is offered with a Bestop top and doors, refurbishment photos, and Vermont registration in the seller’s name.”
(05/10/2019) Looks like there are more military parts than CJ parts here.
“Clean, mostly restored 1948 Willy’s CJ-2A. Runs well, converted 12v with MSD ignition. G.I. top (12 years old), rebuilt and cared for by WWII vet since passed. Garaged and serviced recently. Front bumper tabbed for pull hitch (included). Some small tears in seat upholstery. Recently installed gas tank. Great for as-is use or platform for further restoration/outfitting. Mounted jerry cans. Locking hubs. 8,290 on replaced spedo/odo. Not many like this that I can see out there. Either full restores (high $$$$) or total project rigs. Love it, but has to go. 4 kiddos and spouse in nursing school. Clean CA title.”
“Here’s your chance to own a rare 1960 Jeep FC170.
I bought the FC170 ten years ago and have come to the realization that I don’t have time to get into a restoration project.
Before I bought it, I dropped in a battery and aux gas tank and it started and I drove it around a field. I was told it ran fine prior to being parked. I am assuming, as it is like a tractor, all the other mechanical parts and pieces work fine, but it is not road worthy as it sits.
This FC170 is a restoration project vehicle.
Everything is original.
Flatbed trailer necessary for shipping.”
This parts DJ-3A has quite a bit of rust. But those hubcaps look in great shape. It amazes me that all four are still on the jeep!
