“NOT A CHEVY AVALANCHE!!FACEBOOK BLOWS! I am posting for an older friend a 53 Willys Jeep with the stock 4 cylinder engine. It does not have a current title. He has extra wheels, tires, fiberglass tub, and and so many other parts (transmission, transfer case) I can’t list them all. He would love to rebuild and retitle it, but simply does not have the time. If you are interested, please feel free to message me. He is hoping to get $3500 for everything. He can even throw in a running Chevy 305 engine for an extra $500”

UPDATE: Still Available.

(11/13/2019) I understand that as a seller answering questions can get tiring, but if a buyer isn’t asking questions about a jeep/price like this, then how are they supposed to know whether to see it in person or not?

A Brief Break From Remodeling Projects

Shane’s on the left and Mr. eWillys is on the right of the pic.

My cousin and I took a break from painting, hanging ceiling lights, cleaning up her yard and more (oh so much more) to visit Shane just north of Richmond, Virginia, yesterday. He is a long-time reader who jeeped using 80s/90s jeeps, before jumping into the vintage market with a relatively cheap CJ-3A. He told us how surprised he was at how much he enjoyed driving the old rig. Unfortunately, the jeep was later stolen, but by then he was hooked. So, a little while later he bought his second vintage jeep, a 1942 GPW.

What appeared to be a GPW in good condition turned out to be a jeep with problems that Shane didn’t spot until he got it home (I think most of us can related to that at one time or another). At first Shane bought individual parts , but over time he started buying jeep projects from which he could get some parts. That led him to begin reselling MB and GPW parts.

Apart from the WWII jeeps, he’s acquired a CJ-6 project that he hopes to complete at some point. He also continues to look for WWII parts, including the following items (email him if you think he you have something he needs donovanshanemiller @ gmail.com … no spaces around the @):

Top bow body brackets
Side grab handles
Two reflectors(Corcoran Brown bezel, Grotelite No. 100 lens)
Mirror and arm
Stamped pintle
Blackout light bulb assembly
Axe head bottom bracket(4 hole)
One windshield to hood block
Oil can to firewall bracket
Spare tire carrier and foot
Skid plate

There were a couple of interesting tidbits that we learned from Shane. He explained that there are a lot of 1942 GPWs around the country, because a large number of them were shipped for early military training, while many of the Willys MBs went to North Africa. Anyone have further insights into this?

Additionally, we learned that there was a big auction of brand new, unissued surplus 1945 GPWs sold in 1946 out of Ohio by the military, so it isn’t uncommon to run across 1945s with 1946 titles and bills of sale in that region. Anyone else seen this pattern?

Thanks again to Shane for taking the time to show us his place. Here’s some photos of some of his jeeps:

“1946-1949 Willys-Overland CJ-2A Flat Fender

This Willys is in decent condition for its age. It was used to plow snow and comes with the plow. Long time ownership by same family. At this point in time there is no title, but we are trying to get one. It has the original 4-cylinder engine and six-volt electrical system and we are working to get it running. It last ran in 2011. The clutch and brakes will need attention. As far as the tub goes it is restorable as is but will need at least a driver side floor.

It is a cool flat fender original Willys. A tub for this Willys will cost about $2400.00. The fenders and hood are in good condition and would not need to be replaced.

The car is part of an estate that I am helping to liquidate (do not need help). It is being sold as-is, where-is and will need to be trailered off. The VIN number is 77103. The car is located at Lake Winola outside of Scranton.”

1978 DJ-5F New Orleans, LA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: DJ-5 & DJ-6 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD**

1978-dj5f-no-la

“Trading or selling my beautiful 1978 DJ-5F!
It has a straight 6 with 232 ci, 90 hp.
Along with this piece of American motor, you’ll get a set of 4 snow tires and a full spare, the Service Manual, cans of primer, and other miscellaneous bits. I have the original letter platform.

Work that has been done:
-Filters and fluids changed (air, oil, transmission)
-Brakes bled
-Cleaned carburetor
-New front turn signal assemblies installed
-Redone labels for thermometer
-Repaired fuel gauge
-Installed new windshield wiper pump
-Lubricated manual windows
-Lowered gas tank to allow for more rear storage
-Installed kill switch

I have physical and electronic copies of the service manual. If you want to gander at the service manual, email me.

Has been my frequent driver, but times change. I am selling it, because there is no place to install a baby car seat and I have a 2 year old with another on the way.

$3000 OBO. Looking to trade for a Honda Acty Van (which I’d mod the backseat to have seat belts).

Doors currently off the jeep to install new sliding blocks FYI.”

Kayline? Tire Carrier San Antonio, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Parts This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $150. Sold …. Bill notes this is likely a Kayline. I originally thought Whitco, but I can see now that the cross bracing is different.

I believe this is a Whitco spare tire holder.

“CJ Willys / Jeep Swing Spare Tire Mount. $150.00
All the pieces are there. Just bolt on and your ready to go. If your jeep has BIG tires and the spare is always in the way, perhaps this swing tire mount will help. It does NOT interfere with the tail gate action.”
