Carl pointed out to me that the Cab Enclosure hardtop for the M-38A1 (by Metro Engineering) used plywood doors (all the time? sometimes?). Anyone have insights on this?
Here are two examples.
This video was taken in Salt Lake City (Avenues area) and shows and M-38A1 with plywood doors.
And, This thread on G503 includes the below pics of plywood doors.
UPDATE: **SOLD* Was up for auction.
Joe shared a link to multiple M-1161’s at auction in Georgia. Anyone have experience with these?
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
Looks like it’s missing gussets and free-floating hubs, among other items.
“This is one of the cleanest old GPW’s you will find. Clean CA title and ready for the next parade, event, or trips to town. Runs, drives, shifts, and stops very well. This vehicle is ready for your finishing touches, make it the rig you want it to be, all the hard stuff is done. The body is excellent, my hunch is that it may have been rebodied 30+ years ago. Comes with many extras including two Ford script original seat frames. I have too many vehicles and can’t keep them all. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to own a Ford Jeep. Available to show this weekend. Please don’t make texted offers, come take a look.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $24,900.
(12/30/2018) Henry’s got this GPW for sale.

“**NON-RUNNING PROJECT***
For sale is my TITLED AND PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED 1948 CJ2A project. This began as a ground-up build but life quickly took over and work stalled. Moving, and have no where to put it anymore. (***The tires do hold air, I had to deflate them to get it into the garage.)
What is DONE:
Spring over axle lift
Teraflex Revolver shackles at all 4 corners
33×12.5×15 Super Swamper TSL Bias Plys (the good ones) with a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern mounted spare
Ford/IH/Chevy Hybrid Dana 44 front with ARB Locker (Ford knuckles/hubs, Chevy brakes)
Narrowed front bumper for 0-degree approach angle
Chevy/IH Hybrid Dana 44 rear with a welded differential
1965 Buick “Odd fire” 225ci V6 mounted on Novak Adapter’s engine mounts Continue reading
UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $6500.
(02/02/2019) Will need some work. Rarely driven on roads.
“Think of this as a farm truck. It’s not pretty, but it’s pretty functional! I’ve owned this Willys for 9 years. I had it on the road for the first couple years but didn’t drive it many places (35mph) so just used it around the property and to push snow. A couple years ago I quit pushing snow so the Willys was just sitting. It’s time to go to a new owner.
The Willys always ran really good, so I spent some time on it to get it up and running: new battery, new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor (points are good). It started right up and sounds as good as ever. It’s been converted to 12V with alternator. The dump bed has a belt driven hydraulic pump that feeds two lift cylinders. It’s pretty beefy.

This late model M-38A1 might make a good project.

“M38A1 military Jeep for sale is not running but was when parked. The Jeep is 24volt and mostly original.
Has very little to none rot or rust. Has the two front and one rear seat and windshield and all the gauges.
Engine is the F head 4 cylinder, T-90 manual trans and all the running gear is stock.
Needs to be gone through and is an excellent restoration candidate. The M38A1 is the same as a CJ-5 but with a heavy duty frame that has the front section boxed. Priced to sell for either parts or restoration.
Can be flat towed or on a dolly.”
This project flattie might have a replacement body rather than an M-38 body. Look like a good roll cage.
