UPDATE: Nate’s hoping to gather some Stratton-related information. So, I’ll be using this post to gather that info. If anyone has any more insights into this lift, email me at d@ewillys.com or post it directly to Nate’s thread on the earlyCJ-5.com page. Also, Clint Dixon and Barry Thomas have authored a five-part series of articles for the Dispatcher Magazine titled “The Making of the Farm Jeep”. The Fall of 2018 issue includes information on the Stratton Lift.
As early as 1949 Stratton Equipment out of Cleveland, Ohio, was marketing hydraulic products. One example was their truck lift, a hydraulic lift used for placing cargo onto truck beds. The lift is pictured at the top of page 146 in the October 1949 issue of Popular Mechanics. This was just one of multiple patents filed over the period of three decades (1940s-1970s) by Alfred F. Foote, product designs both jeep-related and non-jeep-related.
1) On July 27, 1960, Alfred F. Foote filed a patent for the Stratton Lift with the Stratton Equipment Company as the assignee. Due to the lack of information related to Stratton lifts, it was unclear to most when this product hit the market. Given the patent date, the lift likely entered the market in late 1960 or later.
As part of his patent, Foote references both the Monroe and the Love designs. The patent for the lift was granted on Feb. 26, 1963.
2) This Stratton brochure is currently on eBay (Nate has better scans of this brochure):
3) These are two mailers that I think someone sent me .. was it you Barry? Continue reading
This ad with a CJ-2A sporting a canvas top was published in the November 24, 1946, issue of the Evening Star.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6000.
(12/15/2018) Needs some brake work, but could be a good price.
“1948 CJ2A with an aluminum V8 215, 4 speed, 4 low and high, warn overdrive, winch, dual fuel tanks, rear seat that is removable, new tires, carburetor rebuilt, new manual fuel pump, runs great but brake issues.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $14,000.
Nice looking wagon.
“Listing for a friend. You are looking at a very nice and well detailed 1956 Willys Station Wagon. It is the 4 wheel drive with the Continental 226 engine. It has had a very nice restoration including brand new interior with great attention to detail. Powdercoated seat frames, new upholstery, headliner, floor, etc. All new chrome along with updated stereo as well. New chrome grill. Also has brand new tires including the spare. Paint shows very nice, although has minor rust showing above drivers rear wheel well and bottom right of rear hatch. It also has new wiring and generator under the hood. Attention to detail on this truck is apparent throughout.
The bad part and reason for the very low price, is while enjoying all this fresh work, the engine let go with one of it’s rod bearings and will need a rebuild. It is all complete and has not been pulled out, my friend is just done with it and ready to just move on from it now. No expense has been spared and you will not be dissapointed. Asking 14,000”

This has some old school feel with those tires. This is a CJ-5 not a military M-38A1. No description provided.

Seller must sell.
“Going through a divorce and selling my Willys MB Tribute jeep. Motivated seller. Make me an offer. She comes fully loaded with all accessories pictured.
She runs good. New exhaust, rebuilt carburetor, new spark plugs. All work done by a local Jeep/off-road shop. 1945 MB frame. CJ-2A tub. I swapped out the CJ grill for an Omix MB grill. Brakes and tires good. New horn!
She has been great for parades and spins around town. My first cosmetic restoration, so she’s not perfect, but looks the part. The brake pedal Burns oil and leaks fluid like any old Jeep should. Kentucky title. Text preferred.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was No Price.
Has some mods, including cuts into the side of the body. Has some EasyLok hubs.
“1954 m38 military Willy’s Jeep. Has 57,000 original miles manual transmission. Great shape for its age. All original except for the brand new 9000 pound winch on the front. Would make a nice deer lease ride or for someone who collects them.”
