About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“1960 cj5 disassembled down to frame for complete rebuild. Motor, transmission, front and rear axils operational. Frame in good shape. Have title. In my opinion the tub is shot, but have all parts. You will have to hall it all.”
“The Willys is a work in progress. Lots of new parts. 4 new springs and shackles, new brakes, brake lines and hoses, master cylinder. New exhaust system. Converted to 12 volt, new alternator, New points, condenser, cap and rotor. New fuel pump, New motor mounts. Several more new parts, Needs a wiring harness. I currently have too many projects. Will post pictures when I get time.”
“I am selling my 46 Willy project that I started the work but realized I have too many projects at once. The body is stripped and and started replacing metal but needs floors finished. I have 2 sets of fenders, 2 hoods, 1 rough windshield frame, 2 tail gate, 2 grills, 1 frame with steering and axles and 1 frame with motor, trans and transfer case. I also have adapter to put the 225 v6 in it.”
(12/18/2017) Seller describes this as a 1953 CJ-3A. It may be a CJ-3A chassis and M-38 body (seller indicates the body is “new”). It lacks the holes necessary to mount the M-38 grille hinges to the frame.
“This jeep is a 1953 cj3a, but it now has a brand new body tub that is a m38 body. Its just primered to stop from rusting. Lots of new parts rebuilt tcase, and trany diffs have been gone through. The engine turns but hasent been gone through. Its all stock has a doner frame from another jeep. Its like 90%, it does need wireing figured out, or just put new wireing harneses. Also needs brakes looked at, the spring kits were replaced i think not adjusted properly. It stops on one wheel but pedal goes to floor.
We have clear title. Most work was done buy Savios fwd in albuquerque at the time. We dont have the time or money to finnish it. It does retain the factory gauges. The shifters were also cromed out. All the original seats, willys tailgate, no back seat. Some one could easily finish this with alittle time. We got with the intention on converting it to a v8, but would requier to many mods. Plus its a small jeep. Its all original drive train numbers match on diffs, trany engine ect. Some one needs to finish it off.”
“BARN FIND WILLYS JEEP FOR SALE IN SALVAGABLE CONDITION CAN BE RESTORED OR USED AS A DONER VEHICLE MANY HARD TO FIND PARTS SEEMS TO BE COMPLETE NOT SURE OF YEAR PUT 1942 TO POST AD.”
I happily did very little on Tuesday, so just this one post for Wednesday. On Wednesday, we drive home. On Thursday, I’ll provide a look back on our trip.
In the mean time, Derek wrote a three page article about his time at the Willys Reunion. You can read it all here:
Lincoln looking down upon us at a rest stop along I-80.
Day 37: On Monday we drove from Denver, Colorado, to Salt Lake City, Utah, with a short stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
On Monday we drove from Denver to Salt Lake City.
We thanked our new-found cousin Gary and his wife Kathy for hosting us, then off we went to find a place they think serves the best Bagels in Denver, the Woodgrain Bagels. They didn’t have a very wide selection of bagels, but they had the proper chewiness. I enjoyed them (of course, Ann can’t eat them because of her gluten issues).
Along with a half-dozen bagels, I bought some poblano cream cheese. Oh boy, was that excellent!
Coincidently, the bagelry and numerous other nearby shops and houses are located at the old Lowry Air Force Base. Ann had spent time there (as did Bob Christy). Needless to say, Ann was shocked at the transformation of the base from one with endless goose excrement (she remembers having to march through goosepoop) into a place with a museum, restaurants, beer garden, high end shops, and storage facilities. It was quite disorienting.
The Willys Overland Rally 2018 in Moab this year was successful again. According David, “The Willys event in Moab went very well. Over 110 people and almost 50 Willys jeeps of various types. People came from Utah, Montana, Arizona, Colorado, California, Idaho, and others I can’t remember. Some big bucks beautiful restorations and some low bucks leaky originals ! Red Cliffs Lodge is a great place for an event like this although approx. 20 miles outside of Moab. Trail ride was mild but fun and scenic. Had a fun and challenging rocky hill some of us tried. Jp magazine was there and will have an article later this year.”
“Check out this little 49 Willys! Very good condition for the age of the truck. It is not show quality, but makes a very nice driver that you can jump in and drive today without doing anything else to it! Powered by the 134 c.i. Go Devil 4 cylinder, a three speed manual transmission, and four wheel drive. Frame and underside are in very nice condition. All gauges work except for the speedometer. Title is a clean antique title and miles are marked exempt from mileage reporting. Tons of new parts including, but not limited to, new motor mounts, brake pedal bushings, tie rod end, generator and starter rebuilt, new electric fuel pump and filter, new distributor, new oil pump, new spark plugs, and new oil pan gasket. Willys manual/parts book comes along with purchase.”
“A hard to find a jeep in excellent condition with much restored and no expense spared. Almost every mechanical detail has been addressed while keeping the original feel.
