Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Complete restoration. This is the first year of the civilian model. Jeep restoration was completed in 2009 has been in storage for the majority of the time since.
Original engine. Engine was in storage for 50+ years prior to installation with roughly 300 miles at the time of purchase; when Jeep was built the engine was cleaned and optimized. Body was acid washed before painting. Includes: OEM parts, Tow hitch, rear bumperettes, Fog lights, leather seats, passenger side tool/storage compartment under seat, and removable canvas top with detachable plastic windows (not pictured yet).
Original CJ2A manual included and numerous records available for parts, construction, and contacts. Two sets of keys.
Brakes cleaned, lines drained, front brakes replaced, new master cylinder installed, new battery [12V conversion], and new carburetor (2017).
No title in New York State for cars pre-1973; but does have transferable registration which constitutes ownership.
583 original miles (~300 prior to restoration, 283 post restoration)”

Craig spotted this one. Seller describes this as a Maverick, but those were 2wd (as I understand it) while this one is 4WD.

That’s a bizarre grille. This may be a CJ-3A with a custom hood, cowl, and grille.
“I have a very cool 95% complete Jeep Willys it has a Ford 289 small block out of a Mustang it is the five whole block they only made it for two years. It also is a 3-speed on the floor four wheel drive. Does not run at the moment just needs to be tuned up and some time spent on it please call me for more”

“1947 Jeep CJ-2A, original PTO winch, 401 Big Block, Flowmaster dual exhaust, full roll cage, aluminum Arctic Top, new starter solenoid, rebuilt starter, military front end, custom gas tank, brake rebuild (hard/soft lines, pads, etc), POR-15 interior coating, stock wheels on it now, also set of 31″ (non-matching). Jeep has collector plates ($200 value), never register again. Clean title. Driver door included, just not shown in photo.”

In late 1946 radio station WSYR-FM out of Syracuse, New York, sent this testimonial for the jeep touting the ability of it to overcome the sometimes muddy terrain to reach the transmitter site.
