About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

“I have a 1948 willys jeep with clean title. The jeep was painted about 20 years ago and has very minimal rust. Jeep has been in garage or carport forever. It’s not running right now but I’m planning on getting it running. I think it just needs new plug wires. Should be something simple. These keeps are so easy to work on. It also has brand new soft top and door for it and extra rims. Awesome little jeep and will start and drive once I get a chance to spend a few hours on it.”
“Have a 46 willys jeep with title. Engine was rebuilt and only has about 30 min of idle time on it. Very little rust considering the age. Needs to be put back together and can be a hunting jeep or restored back to military. $2500.00 or OBO. Text my with questions.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3200. Info from an earlier ad noted that restoration had been started in 1989.
“Partially restored Willys CJ3a. Have Title for vehicle. Started restoration several years ago but it can be someone else’s prize. Many new parts already installed. Have all of the original parts for finishing. Willing to listen to offers but it is worth the price for a base model for complete restoration. Has metal cap and Roll bar. ”
(11/14/2016) Worth a look. There could be parts value at the very least.
“Set up for a V8 Chevrolet Automatic. Has normal rust. Pure nostalgia! Some of the pictures are the refinished product from the internet. Mine is the one with rust. A great winter project!”
“1958 Willys FC170 rare truck not run for many years, stock drive train, title missing, windshield good, no bed, floors OK, corner, interior and door rust. Needs total restoration.”
On Tuesday afternoon, Patterson sprang to life with it’s new transplant!
We started Tuesday morning working through the wiring. I asked Ann to rewire the low-beam/high-beam floor switch, since much of the fabric had fallen away. That led to rewiring more of the harness than expected, which in turn delayed messing with the engine.
Once I could focus on the engine, the first thing I did was swap distributers, as Patterson’s engine had newer internals (and I knew for sure it worked). When installed, I tried starting the engine a few times, but didn’t have success. So, I rotated the distributor wires 90 degrees. When that didn’t work, I rotated them another 90. When that didn’t work, I rotated them another 90. That’s when I got the engine to fire, but not run. At that point I began rotating it a few degrees, then cranking the engine, then rotating again, so I could get a feel for which position seemed to fire the best. But, after trying this a few times, we still didn’t get it to run.
At that point, Ann suggested we try different spark plugs. I’d forgotten I hadn’t installed the ones that had been on Patterson (still attached to the head). So, we pulled them, checked the gaps, then installed them in the “new” engine. We got it to fire again, but then, mysteriously, it stopped firing no matter where the distributer was located. That was puzzling. About that time, ann noticed some heat at the generator. I suspect the regular got stuck, causing the battery to discharge into the generator, creating heat (at least that’s what I determined later of after doing some reading). So, I pulled the battery cable and let the system cool.
Once it was cool, I rotated the distrbutor back to teh position where it had fired the best, then climbed into Patterson to start the jeep, simultaneously working the choke and gas pedal. Sure enough, Patterson just needed some physical presence in the driver’s seat, because he started right up. At that point, I climbed out and played with the distributor to locate the sweetest sounding spot. (see the video on Facebook … I can’t seem to make it appear on eWillys … it lacks a muffler, so it’s a little noisy).
So, Patterson runs again. But, we discovered the temp gauge and oil gauges are not working, so those will need some attention. Unfortunately, we had to return to Pasco last night, because Ann has a doc appointment Wednesday. I accompanied her back to Pasco, as I have some updating to do to the website and need to organize the sale of some Alaska Or Rust t-shirts. More on that Thursday morning. We plan to be back in Renton early next week. My mother has knee surgery scheduled for the 5th, so we need to be around to help out.
Looks like a good build. I wonder if that’s a custom radiator. Looks like it ought to keep the engine cool.
“This is a very rare original 1960s California hot rod. 1955 Chevy 265 V8 purchased in 1962. I have the original bill of sale. It has vintage WW2 correct Olive Drab paint and vintage painted stencils! It has an original WW2 Jeep frame, original WW2 windshield, and many other military specific parts.
This Jeep was built right! A 1957 Thunderbird Holley carb that has been completely rebuilt. It has an early 1960s Ford steering column and master cylinder, a handmade custom roll bar and optional rear seat. It features real military aircraft seat belts!
This great Jeep has been inspected from bumper to bumper and ALL parts have been repaired or replaced! It is ready to go! New gas tank, windshield gaskets and interior gauges. Fog lights were originally sourced from a farm tractor!
It has the original transmission and heavy duty Dana 44s so top speed is about 60mph. This transmission also has a rare Borg Warner overdrive attached. It was disconnected when the transmission was rebuilt a few years ago. The military blackout light and parking brake has not been wired up. This is a 1st year Chevrolet V8 engine with a rare 1955 Corvette intake and valve covers! The engine purrs like a kitten and doesn’t smoke at all or use oil!
It has a very small amount of oil and transmission fluid seepage when warmed up but that is completely normal for these Jeeps. It drives wonderfully with lots of power, very few rattles, shifts smoothly and has a functional 1940s siren.
This original California car is in outstanding 1960s condition. The OD paint of many many years ago is beautifully aged with a great old school look! The only rust that can be seen is in the hat channels under the body. This is extremely common due to the wood inserts and has no effect on the safety of the Jeep. The floors and body are solid! The back rear corners have some small dents and a bit of rust near the taillights. Amazing condition for a Willys that has never been restored or removed from it’s frame!
A shy person shouldn’t drive this Jeep! Be ready to have many people wave and stop you to talk.
Also several extra parts come with the Willys. A Coca-Cola picnic cooler, the original steering column, and several cool military tools and vintage fire extinguishers.
This Jeep is being sold As Is with No warranty. Many documents and receipts are included back to 1962! I can help with shipping but payment in full must clear first. Ask your family before you buy as all purchases are final.”
