” Radiator Rebuilt
Saginaw Steering Box; very easy steering and no death wobble
Transmission and Transfer Case Rebuilt; All new parts in the T-90
New Clutch plate, Pressure Plate and Throw Out bearing, Flywheel Turned
Complete new brake system; lines, Mstr cyl, wheel cyls and turned/replaced drums
CJ 3B springs; retro from donor unit
New windshield glass, seal and replaced windshield wiper motors
Harrison heater; 2 speed with flow cutoff valve inside
Power Port; inside on dash for phone/gps charging
Gauges all work (fuel a bit flakey, new gauge but float may have issue or could be a ground)
Replaced rear lights, hi/lo beams work and inside indicator light working
High Lift Jack
New Pinion Seals front and rear and new Yokes (rear transfer case and rear diff).

Heavy Duty Tow bar with Light bar for towing vehicle

The hard top is in good shape but needs a bit of work as you would expect from a 50+ year old unit.

Body is shot except for hard top, hood, cowl and firewall.

“This is a radio jeep, vehicle comes with complete radio set. The jeep has been partly restored. Many new parts, most small parts restored. Body is good, some rust in hatchannel. Both rear corners have damage from backing trailers. This damage has been partly repaired. Motor complete but needs to be restored. Most small engine items restored; starter, generator, carb. etc. Comes with fording equipment, + NOS fording kit. This is a fun little jeep, easy to finish restoring.

(10/24/2016) It’s an ex Forest Service jeep.

“1951 M38 Barn find. Has been sitting inside since 1970. This jeep has never been licensed or registered for the road. It was bought at government auction and put away. As seen in pictures, there is a US Forestry plate riveted to the dash. This jeep was given to the Forestry where it was used and then sold at auction. It is rust free. Beautiful hat channel underneath. It has 28,000 original miles. It is 6 volt. I have all the original 24 volt generator, distributor, voltage regulator that goes with it. It is just the way the government sold it. It runs like a top. Absolutely beautiful.

Has original gas tank, all cleaned out and small repair. Still has the screen in the gas tank. The only thing that appears to have been added, or possibly put on by the Government before the sale, are the rims and the motor. Motor # does not match the body #. No bondo. No repairs have been made to the body. Brake master cylinder needs to be repaired or replaced. A brand new one comes with the jeep. Carburetor brand new rebuild. New battery, water pump. Ready to go. Call for more info $6,500 Would consider a partial trade for WWII jeep.”

One hub I’ve never seen in the wild is the Viking Hub, a 1968 product developed by Don Chapman at the Viking Automotive Equipment in Gardena, California. Before he moved to California, Chapman was active in Colorado’s offroad community and was involved in an offroad accessories in Colorado as well, most likely Dualmatic or Husky (anyone know the relationship between the two?), which were both based in Longmont.

Here’s an ad for it. Looks like a nice hub:
