Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Seth told me about the Museum of the American G.I. The museum is located in College Station, Texas, and has multiple jeeps. Unfortunately, I could only find one jeep. We didn’t get a chance to reach College Station this spring, but I’m sure we will be back soon. My niece just won a Reigning scholarship at SMU. I guess she’s coming down to Texas to teach them how to ride a horse :-). Seriously, she’s one of the top riders in the country and a great person too match. Texas is lucky to get her!

Seller has what appears to be a Jeep-a-trench PTO and gear. They are also selling a lift of some type.
“THIS IS A VERY RARE OPTION ON A 1954 WILLYS JEEP WE ARE RESTORING. IT IS A WAY TO GET THE FORWARD SPEED OF THE JEEP DOWN TO ABOUT 1 MILE PER HOUR.
STUDY THE PHOTO’S AND SEE THE FINE CONDITION THE PTO IS IN. THE BIG GEAR IS A REPLACEMENT EMERGENCY BRAKE DRUM SET UP SO IT CAN BE TURNED BY THE GEAR COMING OUT FROM THE PTO. THE BIG GEAR HAS A SMALL CRACK NEAR THE CENTER BUT IS NOT SERIOUS. IT IS VERY UNIQUE AND I THOUGHT I HAD SEEN EVERYTHING AVAILABLE FOR EARLY WILLYS JEEPS FROM THE 40’S.
