Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Seller has what appears to be a Jeep-a-trench PTO and gear. They are also selling a lift of some type.
“THIS IS A VERY RARE OPTION ON A 1954 WILLYS JEEP WE ARE RESTORING. IT IS A WAY TO GET THE FORWARD SPEED OF THE JEEP DOWN TO ABOUT 1 MILE PER HOUR.
STUDY THE PHOTO’S AND SEE THE FINE CONDITION THE PTO IS IN. THE BIG GEAR IS A REPLACEMENT EMERGENCY BRAKE DRUM SET UP SO IT CAN BE TURNED BY THE GEAR COMING OUT FROM THE PTO. THE BIG GEAR HAS A SMALL CRACK NEAR THE CENTER BUT IS NOT SERIOUS. IT IS VERY UNIQUE AND I THOUGHT I HAD SEEN EVERYTHING AVAILABLE FOR EARLY WILLYS JEEPS FROM THE 40’S.
