Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have for sale an original American WW2 icon. Both Willys and Ford built the same vehicle with totally interchangeable parts from 1942 to 1945. I have been putting together this project for a number of years and have come to the conclusion that someone else needs to finish it.I have collected quite a few items (such as correct tools, military paraphernalia and extra parts) that would complement a project such as this.”
Runs and drives.
“1950 Willys CJ2A Jeep, Military, rebuilt 4 cyl motor with less than 1000 miles on it. Upgraded big drum brakes, new off road wheels and new off road tires. Seats replaced from later model jeep. Body is in nice condition with some body cracks where the spare tire was mounted. Luggage rack on back that hold 2 gas cans and an ice chest. Tool box in back seat area. Overall it is a nice old jeep.”

Looks like a good restoration.
“Willys Model M38A1 built in 1954. It was restored from an M38A1 that was untouched since its days in the US Army. When purchased, It still had OD paint and the hood and unit numbers were still visible. The body was very good.
The body metal is very good with no rust. This jeep has been garaged since owned. Have Top/bows.
Engine still at 24 volts. All engine accessories are correct. Cranks well, starts right up and runs good. Holds the road very well.
The Jeep has a period correct US Army Radio set with antenna.”

“1960 Jeep FC. I have no idea what I have. I have acquired this. It’s a 4×4. It hasn’t run since 2001. Asking $2900 or best offer or trade. I’ll trade up or down. have cash to go with it. Will trade (anything) for nice 4x4s, 4 wheelers, side by sides, car, trucks, bang bangs.. etc.”

I’ve owned this jeep for three years, purchased from a filmmaker/collector here locally who has several willys. I’m not sure how long he had it prior, but I got the distinct impression he’s committed to these vehicles. He has specific shops in Treadwell and Morris that he trusts to work on these (Morris is an hour away from here, which says something.)
I could not speak with certainty on the engine being original– I do know he had it machined and tuned just prior to my acquisition. The carb was also rebuilt.
The brakes seem to be in good condition. The top is in good condition minus a couple chips in the rim. All glass is in good condition (the side windows do not roll down). There is no handle on the passenger door.
The floor pans had been repaired in the past– plates added– they’re adequate but it could be prettier. There are a few rust holes. The toolbox is pretty rusty and has a few holes.
The frame looks good.
It has most certainly been repainted– I couldn’t say what the original color was.
New battery this spring. The wiring needs the turn signals and brake lights sorted out.
Runs very well and strong. Front wheel 4WD locks move well without a tool.
I deregistered it last year as I was fundamentally using it on the farm (to move firewood, and rarely) and didn’t want to pay insurance. I have the papers for easy transfer.
Quite simply, this jeep has gotten little use since I got it– housed in the barn, battery changed, rewiring started, oil changed. I’d keep it if we didn’t need to cover some unexpected expenses.”

Has the wrong grille for a 1950. Also has a BIG fuel tank.
“Runs good. Smog exempt. Stock with the exception of it has a 47 gal fuel tank…has current Calif. License. Original paint great patina”
