Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a 1948 Jeep Willys runs doesn’t drive. I bought this for a project but I do not have the time to fix it. It has what I believe is a Dauntless 225 V-6. Installed by a previous owner. I really don’t know much more than that. the block casting is 991503.”

“I have been driving this Jeep around for the last couple of weeks. I hate to get rid of it. It runs and drives well. fairly new tires, lights work, floor starter works, 12v, bed is a little rough. Currently licensed and I drive it nearly every day. The price is firm.”

I found this jeep related article in a School Bulletin from 1968. Not a lot of information, but I thought it was interesting it was there in the first place. It documents a trip into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in New Mexico.
This National Four Wheel Drive Association Photo appeared in the February 1964 issue of Four Wheeler Magazine near the back cover.

“I have too many toys. This one has to go. 327 chevy, SM421 4 Speed Trans, Dana 25 Front, Dana 44 Rear, New 4.88 Gears in both by Fearless Gear (rebuilt front). New 33″ BFG Mud Terrain Tires. New Paint. All Gauges Work. Rhino Lined Firewall, Interior, Fenders. New Rims. The bottom looks as good as the top. Asking $9,000 or best offer. Will entertain trades of equal value.”

“1942 Willys Jeep cj, Chevy 350 V8 with 17k miles, turbo transmission with 8k on it, msd ignition, chrome parts every place, boxed reinforced frame with large gas tank moved to rear, Newer all terrain 33 tires and wheels, full custom roll bar, dana 30 axle, cj transfer case, new gauges, fog lights, All been gone through top to bottom and in great shape, Custom chrome grille, bumpers and hooks, much much more done to list. Not fiberglass junk and titled clear willys. If local please come check out”

“6 year old motor pool restoration. Never registered, driven on hunting club. Will provide bill of sale. 7.50-16 tires, 2 good batteries less than 2 years old, good brakes w/ dot 5 fluid, F134 4 cyl
Runs good, minor oil leak and a llittle carb smoke. Needs valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket (less than $20.00) Drives good, 24 volt electrical intact, does have 12 volt heater added, 4-wheel drive works, sears locking hubs, custom mossy oak top w/ side panels & bows made at local shop. One small spot of rust under driver door.”
