Richard owns several types of jeep trailers, but this rare Sterling Trailer just might be the most unique. He just got done sanding and repainting it. There’s very little information on the web about them and what I found I put together in this Sterling-related post. Thanks to Richard for sharing pics of this unusual trailer!
James has been busy attending the College of Mines in Golden, Colorado. But, he had time to drop us a note. He writes, “I saw this Gem today. I was on my way back home from school while this drove past me. It’s a 1950 Willys CJ3A with an overdrive unit just like my old 3a. It is in amazing condition and runs like a champ. It’s good to see it still on the roads in Golden. For a moment I thought it was my old 3A! ”
This is probably a rare shirt, because few people would be caught dead wearing it. I’m one of the few nuts who would wear it.

Between the headlights and the bantam-like sides, this looks like a Bantam-inspired toy to me.
“Offered is a vintage, 1950’s “Thomas Toys,” military police jeep w/ rare trailer. Trailer is the real value here, no doubt. Chief is approximately 4 inches and overall length while trailer is approximately 3.5″ in overall length. Jeep is missing siren, windshield, figures etc….
Trailer is intact and has seen little, if any use.
Colors are vibrant.
The only discrepancy is that One of four plastic tabs that hold the axle in place are broken. Please see photograph”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000
Looks solid.
“I am selling my 1948 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. I built it out of parts from a friend’s barn and got it back on the road, but I have no place to 4-wheel it, so I’d like it to move on to someone who can use it right.
New parts:
Brake system – master cylinder, lines, brake switch, hoses, wheel cylinders, pads, e-brake cable
Gas tank and sender
12V Alternator, Wiring harness with turn signals, headlights, tail lights and horn
Plug wires, dist cap, coil and ignition switch
U-joints and diff/trans case seals
Seat cushions and steering wheel
Complete exhaust system
Temp gauge and sender, speedometer and cable, voltmeter
Clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing
Electric windshield wiper
UPDATE: Was $1000. **SOLD**
Runs and drives!
“1964 Willy’s Jeep with an F head engine. Starts, runs, drives and stops. Body is rough, rusted. Has snow plow with hydraulic angle and down pressure. Asking $1000.”
Doesn’t run, but looks sound. I like the vintage top.
“Fun vintage jeep!
Not running. Rebuilt body late 1970’s and put in barn storage in 1985. 4 F-134 engine with 3 speed transmission. Body in good condition. Canvas top in good condition. Roll bar added during restoration effort in 70’s. Garage kept!
Photo taken the day it was pulled from the barn, complete with 29 years of dust!
Lost the barn storage due to property sale. Need to pass this one on to a real jeep enthusiast!”

The early CJ-5 VIN should read 57548 11040. So, check the VIN closely on this one.
