Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Totally restored? This jeep appears to have two different sets of data plates. It looks like it has 1 of 3 early plates on the dash and an additional later data plate on the passenger box.

“Ok all you old vehicle buffs. I have a 1949 Jeep Willy 4WD pickup, all original, 3 on the tree, original 6 volt battery, vacuum wipers and around 50,000 original miles. Used as a trap wagon in Pendleton and I bought it about 30 years ago with the hopes of fixing it up. It runs but needs a new battery, has a flat tire, and inside needs work. Chrome on it still shines. Key is in Montana (somewhere in the garage! lol) so I’m needing to get one made here. I really don’t want to sell it as I love it but if I haven’t fixed it up in 30 years – I don’t think I ever will…….. Bidding as already started at $1500. Please email me if you wish to put in a bid. It’s a project. The frame looks like it’s for a later model CJ-5, which means you’ll need a later model body should you want to properly mount it.
“It’s a 1946 willys cj2a. It sitting on a brand new cj5 chassis. New frame. Brand new 4inch spring lift. All new polyurethane suspension bushings. All new ballpoints tie rods. And u joints. New brakes pads rotors and calipers etc. fresh 258 inline 6 aftermarket cam and valve train, T18 trans with new clutch.
Body has custom floors and firewall designed to fit my 6ft self. And it’s properly mounted to the chassis. But body needs finished. Or. Drop on a cj5 body and call it a day. “

I hope every has a happy father’s day. I’ll be enjoying it by taking the day off. Here’s a few old pics of Dad from the Wandering Willys Jeep Club Scrapbook. I don’t know the history behind any of them.
Looks like he has antifreeze in one hand and kerosene or gas in the other. Since he was wearing a hard hat, maybe the club was cutting trees for some reason? Circa mid 1970s?
I think this was a pancake feed at the Region 1 play day circa 1981. I don’t remember that hat.
Maybe 1970? Looks to me like he’s woken up after drinking. He has that hangover look, which is something I never remember him having. Maybe taken at the Beverly Sand Dunes. That’s my sister on his lap.
Dad’s not in this pic, but I thought I’d post it anyway. It’s a photo from about 1980. I think we are above Cle Elum here, but I couldn’t swear to it.
