(07/03/2013) Apparently, Ward Canaday owned this jeep. It’s got some body rust issues.
“1951 cj3a. This Jeep was owned by Ward Canaday who was president of Willys Overland and also considered father of the Jeep. It was used on his Ottawa Hills estate as a maintenance vehicle.
That said, its in pretty decent shape for being 60 years old.
The jeep had been sitting for 25 years or so and the engine was stuck. Replaced all exhaust valves, and ground intakes. Pulled pistons and cleaned. Replaced cyl head. Rebuilt carb. New master and all wheel cyls. Runs good. Odometer shows under 2000 miles, but speedo cable was broke. True miles unknown, but I doubt it has a whole lot.
Windshield is cracked, gas gauge doesn’t work, steering box is kind of sloppy, body does have some rust.
I have done the repair work on this jeep and am listing it for the owner. I can answer any questions and show the vehicle. It does have a title and also owner has a copy of old title showing it belonging to Canaday’s estate.”
Dan spotted this collection of jeeps.
“Have a few jeeps that have been in storage since the 70’s. Have one with a chevy v8. This one was driven into storage but thieves stole the carb and wheels off it. Second one is a military jeep. It has no motor or trans. Third has a newer motor and no trans. Have a couple tubs and frames. Also have a cj5 frame and tub.
All varying in prices. Available to view all them this saturday in woodland. Have a few other vehilcle in there for sale also

“1943 Ford GPW Military Jeep. 4 on the floor, 4wd works great. fun little vehicle for car shows, parades, or driving around. It was originally built in the Ford plant in Louisville, KY. I am willing to work with price I just need to sell. I can provide more information but please do not waste my time. The engine has been overhauled, valves have been hardened so you can use regular unleaded pump gas without any damage to the engine or worry about the hassle of mxing special fuel with a lead block. I can take more pictures just ask. Really good condition. I have this posted in Louisville section as well.”
This body has seen some changes. The driver and passenger entrances are one-of-a-kind. The passenger side has a GPW fender.
