Terry’s Jeep Farm in Kingston, NY
I’m sad to report that Terry Ackert passed away last month. He ran the Jeep Farm in Kingston, NY. We had a chance to meet him in 2011. Tom forwarded this obituary. Below is the summary of our visit with him.
(Published Nov 17, 2011) This past Monday Andy took us over to meet Terry and tour Terry’s ‘jeep farm’ in Kingston, NY. The entrance to the farm is a jeep tour in itself, requiring a good solid hill climbing vehicle as the jeep farm sits atop a hill like the summit of some holy jeep mecca. In fact, the entrance is guarded by two luscious beauties … two barbie jeeps that have, admittedly, seen better days. Once we reached the farm, jeeps began appearing in the woods.
Terry has been collecting jeeps for years and, even despite the rainy day, relishes what he does. While Andy, Terry and I talked, Ann was busily exploring the scene for the perfect shot. I’m not sure she even knew it was raining, because she was in her ‘photo zone’. Terry was impressed enough that he gave Ann a little tootsietoy jeep (which needs some rebuilding). Though we didn’t get a glass of wine on this visit, as the rain discouraged socializing, if you visit him on a nice day he just might share a glass with you. Give him a call at if you need some parts: 845 657 6692. Thanks for taking time for us Terry!
Terry and I pose. I like his eyeglasses holders.
Here are a few pictures from the our time there:
Here is Ann’s first ever jeep (left), given to her by Terry, and Andy’s more complete version of the Tootsietoy jeep:

1955 Wagon Mulvane, KS **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500
This nice looking wagon is still 6 volt.
“1955 Willys Wagon, original 226ci Inline Flathead SuperHurricane engine. Original 3 speed transmission with sought-after Warn All-Range OverDrive. Original Dana axels with sealed Rzeppa joint front drive knuckles. Four wheel drive works better than our new 4×4 vehicles. Very good driver condition, runs/drives/stops. Even the terrible vacuum operated windshield wipers work! Both axels rebuilt a couple of years ago & front brakes at the same time. All fluids have been replaced with the appropriate types/weights. Still 6volt, charges properly, good lights, signals & switches. The only thing on the truck to my knowledge that doesn’t work is the heater. I do not know if it will work, I’ve never even looked at it, I just pulled the switch & it didn’t come on. Two pieces of glass cracked & some rust on right rear quarter starting over the wheel well. Tailgate is not rusted out like usual, it’s actually in excellent condition. Both rows of seats present/in good working condition. Have a set of original rims with antique tires as well as the chrome rims & modern tires seen in the photos. Extremely fun to drive, gets a ton of attention. For the asking price it will come with an additional complete chassis that also has the SuperHurricane, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axels, original rims, brakes system, shifters, etc. The chassis vehicle was a running driving Willys as well until the body was taken for a rock crawler project. The wagon is an all numbers matching vehicle that will come with a clean clear Kansas title & front/rear matching antique plates. The chassis does NOT come with an additional title. Only one title. Will seperate/have others as well. Cash only, not interested in trades & need absolutely no help selling anything. DO NOT call me with help selling or special offers”
7UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5
1952 M-38A1 Syracuse, IN **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $13,900.
“For sale is a 1952 Willys M38A1 Army Jeep. Fully frame off restored a few years ago. No Rust or Rot! Rebuilt suspension, brakes, transmission, axles, transfer case, engine, new paint, new interior, new soft top, 5 new non directional military tires, the list goes on and on. I would rate it a 8 out of 10. Not 100% flawless, but very close. Runs like new, original 24 volt electric system. Every receipt and pictures come with the Jeep along will all the original manuals, and several boxes of of spare parts. Turn signals, and tail lights added to make vehicle street legal. Must sell, make me an offer. Asking $13,900.00 or best offer. Also would consider trades of similar value. (Let me know what you are thinking. The worst I can do is say no.)”
