UPDATE: Price now $1400.
(01/18/2013) There appears to be some value here.
“1942 Ford GPW, made 9/’42. I’ve had this a number of years thinking I might want to restore or build one more flat fender jeep, but it’s time to move onto other things. I’m selling the last of my jeep stuff as one lot.
TO BE CLEAR. I WILL NOT SELL THE COMBAT RIMS OR ANYTHING ELSE SEPERATELY, ALL OR NOTH42.
The frame is uncut, and straight. The frame horns are in good shape front and rear. The axles look to be the originals. The torq reaction plate is also still there. The front tow bumper is just bolted on, and the frame horns and gussets are OK underneath. It will come with a new repro front bumper also.
The Tub is solid and straight, it’s NOT a perfectly fully restored tub, but the work that was done in its past left it with solid metal floors, solid straight quarters, and tool boxes. good fuel tank well, there is a skim coat of bondo in various places, but it’s a good useable 71 year old tub, and the dash isn’t all hacked up..
The bad news is it’s pretty much a rolling shell, no drivetrain, no title (bill of sale) electrics, etc. . .. It’s how I got it. But if you have a rusty or wrecked donor this would make a restoration or build up much easier.
All the parts included are in the pictures. There are 3 original 16″ combat rims, a good T-90 transmission, 5 gallon fuel cell, good f-134 head and crank, original steering wheel, a good 1945 GPW frame,. . . etc. I HAVE NO OTHER PARTS FOR SALE
$1,400 ………… I would trade for 1958-66 VW bug project, Fiat 124 spider or coupe project, or Diesel or gas powered military generator , working condition (must make both 1 & 3 phase AC 110/220, 10 to 20 KW only) . The type of car I will take in trade is relatively solid and straight, mostly complete, and with a clear title, I am willing to deal with some rust and body damage, dead or alive. NO OTHER TRADES WANTED. . .. . .. . .. . .. . .
Thanks,
Call 425-591-5473 or e-mail….”

I plan to do some updates later tonight. Right now, I’m trying a few different ways of logging in and registering. So, the registration might appear and disappear.
Brian asked if I recognized this. I didn’t. After a few strokes of the keyboard, I discovered it might be a Ramsey PTO for a Dana 20 (http://www.jeeptech.com/winch/d20pto.html). Is it a Ramsey or something else?
UPDATE: Hmm … it turns out my default eWillys WP theme was causing some issues. That might just have been the source of a couple problems. Or, I’m just playing whack a mole …. anyhow, I’ll leave up this theme until I fix the other one.
We aren’t too far away (Monday or Tuesday) from being up and running again on a newer, much faster server. So, why the big delay?
1) SPAM/BOT Traffic: I have reading through log files. The spam bots/spiders are hitting the site with enough frequency that it is slowing down the site to a crawl (or using up all webhost resources altogether). I have tried numerous strategies to reduce the strain of these on the webhost, which has helped, but not cured the resource use problem. Even the back end, which I use to do updates, etc, is nearly unusable due to the busy server.
2) COMMENT SPAM: The amount of comment spam has dramatically increased. Look at this chart. It shows approx 3000 spam comments (automated comments that are junk) in September 2012. By December that number had increased ten fold to 30,000 spam comments. While there are defenses in place to deal with that, I suspect that is helping cause resource problems as well.
3) SERVER HOSTS: Like Goldilocks, I tried a couple different server hosts (experiences described in posts below). One proved too frustrating, one proved too limiting. For the third try, I’ve turned to the McDonagh Brothers, web hosts and developers who, as lovers of jeeps, have a bit of self interest in seeing the site succeed. We should be up and going monday or tuesday.
In the meantime, I’m using Facebook to provide some contact and updates: http://www.facebook.com/pages/EWillys/304123822973935
