1944 GPW Corrales, NM eBay

Parts or a project.

“1944-45 ? FORD GPW body and frame, with a Willys motor un-attached. This is one of my barn finds here in New Mexico “bill of sale only” no title. As you can see its a Ford without the script on the rear panel so it must be a 1944-45. What you see is what you get. I do have an extra set of leaf springs front and back. right rear main leaf is broken at the back end. I have a rear driveline although I’m not sure if it fits, it looks like it should. The rear floor pan needs replacing. The rest looks repairable/restorable. No windshield frame. I would of liked to restored it, but due to my health issues I need to part with it…”

Year? M-38A1 Georgetown, CA $2000

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

No pics provided.

“I have a nearly complete, mostly un-molested M38-A1 project jeep. This Jeep came out of Nevada about 15 years ago, and the paperwork has been lost. It is mostly complete and stock. Original F-head 4-cylinder, 3-speed transmission, ..stock suspension, tires, wheels. The tires are shot from sitting. The body is mostly straight, with a small amount of minor rust. It is not cut up or damaged other than the right front fender being bent, probably fix-able. Steering, brakes, etc. all original. The seat frames are there, with cushions, but no upholstery, and the cushions would only be useful for patterns. The windshield is intact with good glass. It has bumpers that are not stock, and also has a tow bar on the front. If interested, I also have a complete bell housing and adapter plate setup to put a chevy engine in this, sold separately. This is a “barn find” I have not tried to start it yet (engine is NOT seized). I may consider offers and trade. Pictures available on request.”

January 1943 Pop Mechanics Jeep Flies Target Plane

• CATEGORIES: Features, Magazine • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

A couple additional references to the jeep were made in the January 1943 issue of Popular Mechanics. You can see the online version at Google Books

1) Page 33: “Jeep Flies Target Plane to Help Gunner’s Aim”

Apparently, a plane was mounted to a jeep and driven across an open field.  I’ve never seen any other pictures of this.

2) Page 64: Perhaps this is the first running model jeep? It certainly was an early one!
