“1947 willys cj2a for sale. Not finding the time to finish the restoration. Body is vary solid for a 1947. The top end of motor has been rebuilt, Runs good, carb isn”t original, but i have the correct carter that needs a rebuild kit to put on it. 1st gear isn’t good but have a good replacement gear cluster to put in. Been sitting the last two years and recently gave it a jump and started rite up! The 6volt generator charges well but battery is shot. Brakes are down, may pump up? No title,”
UPDATE: Was on eBay. Status Unknown.
(09/29/2012) This solid looking CJ-3A looks like all it needs is a paint job to be a good looking jeep. The nicely made half top out of boat material is very interesting too. Whoever made those could probably sell a few — it is hard to find bikini tops for the early CJ’s, especially ones that fit so nicely.
“I bought this Willys from my uncle about 5 years ago. He used it in an apple orchard for many years to pull apple wagons so it went with out license tags for MANY years. It was only driven during apple harvest season so it got few miles usage each year. He and I both always stored it in the garage and never drove it in the winter. He had the engine overhauled about 9 years ago when he forgot to put oil in it during an oil change. When I got it the tranny and transfer case growled terrible do to many years with bad boots on the shift levers letting in water and dirt. I installed rebuilts about 5 yrs ago and it now runs very quietly. It is used as a summer putt around vehicle here in Deadwood SD so has been seen by MANY in this area. It purrs around nicely at speeds up to 50 mi/hr with out the typical WILLY WOBBLE. Driven mostly around mountainous terrain with out heat problems. (I had the radiator boiled out before I put it on the road 5 yrs ago). Lights and brakes work good. New windshield and windshield hinge gasket 2 yrs ago. New plastic under seat gas tank (same design as original). New gas sending unit which does not register correctly–I think it might be for a 12 volt. Other gages work fine. New speedo cable but speedo JUMPS when connected (Maybe the wrong drive gear was put in during rebuild). Emergency cable is missing but other parts including handle are included. Has warn lock outs in the front diff. It shows very little rust. The frame and floor are in good condition. The SURRY top(2 yrs old-made of boat cloth) and frame comes off very easily so windshield can be folded down. This is a very nice little Willys which I am selling only because have another.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1900.
(10/21/2012) This has no title. Seller is interested in trades, too.
“PRICE DROPPED…. I NEED THIS JEEP GONE….I NEED THE ROOM NOW…..Going to give up on the dream i had for this project. No more money and absolutely no more time for this project, previous owner installed a 70’s olds or buick V-8 (330?) he said it ran great when parked, had tranny problems, hince no tranny is in the jeep. Everything in the pictures is included minus the roll bar (sold). Frame is very good. Body had rust signs of patches and needs more work. Has power steering. Looks like a chevy steering box. Can transport or deliver, or assist with loading on your freight carrier. no title, bill of sale only
Open to trades email what you’ve got, or a serious cash offer,or combination. $1900 or real money offer. no dreamers or lame craigslist scams. PRICE HAS BEEN DROPPED”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500
(09/10/2012) This runs.
“Project Jeep only missing seats and fuel tank (that way when I bought it). It will run, needs fluids put back in it. Tub is pretty rough, and has been taken off, frame was sandblasted and osphoed and undercoated. It has Samurai axels (front one needs put in, back one is in already). It is a project, that I do not have the time to finish anytime soon. $1000.00 firm. If I don’t sell him then thats ok, I will complete him in a couple years.”
Here’s a neat postcard.
“Title: RPPC – Military Jeep on Alaska Highway thru Canada Postcard
Description: Card was mailed, has light wear, no major creases.
We are selling a large number of postcards in the near future. Some will be individual, some in large groups. Be sure to look at our other auctions as we list similar items simultaneously.”
This is another good example of a kid’s jeep amusement ride.
“This listing is for one old photo of a cute boy on a merry go round Jeep. Photo is approximately 3.3 x 3.3 inches.”
I’m taking the night off. More tomorrow.
Juan wrote to me the other day. He wanted to share his life long passion with jeeps that started when he was a young boy in Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico. Juan doesn’t speak English and my Spanish isn’t much better, so I have done my best to translate his email (and any mistakes are my fault). Thanks for sharing Juan!
DAVE good afternoon.
I am a 60 year old retired Veterinarian. My Father was born and lived in Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico, land of the best coffee. My father always used Willys jeeps or trucks to access our ranch because they were the only vehicles that could make it. When I was eighteen months of age he gave me Kings Pedal Jeep as a gift and I treasured it.
In 1969 I left my country and moved to the port of Veracruz to study veterinary and animal science. I went to work at the state of Oaxaca. Each week or two back I returned home to help my father in his old age. When I retired, I return to Coatepec to launch a small veterinary pharmacy. My parents had both passed away by that time. After returning home, I found that many friends asked about my father and whether he had any jeep parts for sale. After enough requests, I got the idea to buy some jeeps and rebuild them or part them out.
In 2007 one of my children taught me to use the computer and showed me lots of different willys sites. After seeing the Willys clubs in Colombia, I got the idea to form a Coatepec Willys clubs with some friends. We changed the name to Jeeperos Coatepec, because we have many friends that had 4×4 vehicles other than Willys. We hung out every month, attended cultural events, sports exhibitions, and were invited to participate in events on the beaches of Veracruz chachalacas, where every year all the republic clubs totaling more than 200 jeeps gathered. We have participated in movies of Che Guevara Arnold, in a French movie, in some commercials, and more.
Unfortunately, one of my children died eight months ago. This depressed me to the point where I stopped wheeling and being active in the group. However, I have slowly been overcoming this tragedy with help from my friends. And, thanks to websites like yours, I feel more motivated to keep up with my jeeps. We hope some day you can make it down here [editor’s note . . . so do I!]. If you do, you can enjoy a jeep ride through the plantation, canals and farms of these places .
In the first three photos below show the small collection I have. A 1947 CJ-2A, 1953 CJ-3B, a CJ-5, a CJ-7 and more.
Many Thanks.
Juan Lopez Badillo
=============================
From these first three pictures you can see that Juan has a nice variety of complete and incomplete jeeps.
This has the potential for a Colorado Tour Rig!
There are some other photos that Juan included:
UPDATE: Jesse forwarded a few more pics showing the floor removed.
This is an update on the 1948 Package Delivery Van, the only one we know of in existence. When we last saw it, the van was on it’s way to Jesse’s place in Phoenix for a complete overhaul.
You can read the full story of the package van in an article I wrote and published for JeepTruck.com.
Below is the latest picture I have. The body has been stripped and cleaned a bit.
